To be honest, i dont think that having guests in the team is that much of an issue. Any pro captain would be doing everything he can in order to get a spot for next year.

If a team has to pad out their roster with 5 guests, then so what? The few months of piss taking would be entirely worth it in my mind!

Wonder who Maximus will be playing for?:)

So lets say you did allow Russian Legion to play as Nexus instead of your own guys. Arent you basically saying that Nexus aren't good enough to make the cut on their own?

Weebrain, let me explain something that you have obviously overlooked, there are over 30 pro teams attending San Diego, some of whom have no chance and no inclination of trying to make next year’s cut.
Teams like Strange, Legacy, Bob's new team and so on, all of these are quite capable of making the Sunday club, never before have so many pro teams been assembled.
It is going to be extremely difficult for anybody to make the cut under these unique circumstances which is what a few teams will need to assure themselves for a place next year.

Now, as coach and joint owner of Nexus, what would you have me do, risk sending Nexus who I think are good enough to make the top 17 but in the environment just mentioned, only one small thing would have to go wrong (a couple of bad calls, a bad draw, an injury etc) and I could be on the wrong side of qualification.
Do you honestly think I am gonna risk qualifying under those circumstances if I have got another legitimate and more certain option of getting us in ?
I am 100% sure Nexus will assume a top 10 position next year because we have now re-instituted the same (if not harder) training regime since we got back from Vegas instead of just playing other teams as we have done up until Vegas.
The improvement has already begun but I cannot and will not risk allowing providence to determine whether or not Nexus get in next year, I would be a fool not to do what's best for my team, and believe me weedave, I ain't no fool !!!

Probably best for me to keep my yap shut, but ....

Any team that is now finding themselves in a position where they must make the finals in order to remain pro has already waited too long to do something drastic. If hired guns are the answer, it should have happened for Malaga.

With 32 teams, including the likes of Strange (NXE), 2 each of Infamous, Dynasty and Bob Long, plus the normal array of heavy hitters like Arsenal, Avalanche, XSV and the Naughty Dogs; no team is assured the quarter finals, let alone the finals.

I absolutely understand a team fighting, fair or dirty, to remain in the pro division. I think that if you are in a do-or-die situation now, and there are other recourses available to you, you likely should have exercised them last weekend.

On a related aside; with more pro teams than ever before; with a greater collection of world-class teams and talent than ever before, with more resting on the outcome of the event, from the prelims to the finals; are we looking at the dirtiest event in the history of the sport? With so much resting on every elimination, the impetus to cheat will be high. Can the refs keep up?

Good one, Jeff. Very Phil Jackson of you. (That's a basketball reference for all you Europeeps..)
Personally I'd be more concerned about how many of the fill-in refs are gonna be SoCal locals but that's just my wildly out-of-control negativity and cynicism getting the better of me.

Re: Re:Robbo

Robbo, I did not question your intentions, simply just asked a question so I think by insulting me " weebrain " is a tad bit harsh.

Dave

EDIT ADDED: Actual made up explanations--1) Pete was replying to Weebrian but misspelled it. 2) Just kidding but forgot the smiley face. 3) working on a Don Rickles-style nightclub act--it was said with love. Or, 4) Ant slipped him a drink with caffeine in it and gleefully waited for fireworks. 5) Be grateful he paid you any attention at all. He's a very busy guy.
I, on the other hand, obviously have time to waste. TFP:cool:
