Its simple really:
100 teams play 10 games = 1000 games
Each field does say 80 games a day = 7 fields
9 Pro Judges per field = 63 Judges
Now we get
100 teams play 8 games = 800 games
Same 80 games a field = 5 fields
9 Pro Judges per field = 45 judges.
Thats 18 less judges to fly in, put in hotels, feed and pay.
Plus it is a lot easier (and therefore cheaper as market forces demand) to find venues that can host 5 fields rather than 7 fields.
Also set up and clear up costs (which ar some of promoters biggest expenses) are reduced.
Fianlly I would love to see where you get the idea that promoters are coining it in, from what i hear the NPPL lost money at every event last year and they have more teams, bigger sponsorship, higher entry fee AND ONLY 8 PRELIM GAMES!!!!
piper piper piper..... i have been emailing Karlijn over the last few days putting across my views n that views of others from the board. all i got was..Originally posted by Andy Piper
Some of the points on this thread are great some how ever are not!
A few people have doen some calculations and said this that and the other, well what about the Millennium Series coming on and saying something. I mean we are the paying customers after all.
Is that such a bad thing to ask? I know they read the boards but no one has said anything.
The Millennium Series feel that such an association is very important for the sport and especially to enable the Series to improve on things the players (our customers) need. (taken from the press release sent around.
Oh and look it says we are there customers! Yet they do not come on here and speak to us! Oh hold on why should they? They are the Millennium Series and they rule the world!
I also have another question, crock o sheet, why depend them so much?
Still I guess we just have to put up or shut up, so I for one won't be giving them any of my cash this year! Not that it really matters in the long run anyway.
Piper
I have seen the discussions and our Rules Committee is working hard on this.
Oi Crock o sheep If its that “Simple really” why have you screwed up on your calculations? 100 teams playing 10 games is quite obviously 500 games not 1000….Dumbass!!!Originally posted by Crock_O'Sheet

Sam - Ok - say that in your reply!!Originally posted by sjt19
I read all that you wrote Mark, and obviously the MS does not share your view that the series is saturated with teams.

100 teams playing 8 games is 350 games
You can run around 60 seven minute games in a day, so the MS maximum saves 1 field if they don't get more teams entered by cutting the number of games.
