Can anybody provide feedbacks, feelings on UK Pro Tour held this year?

How was it?
Exciting? Boring? expensive?roster nightmare?paint consumption?
Don't really think the UK Pro tour is that relevant..... it is a damn side easier getting a few extra blokes to drive a few miles down the road to play on Sunday - than getting them to board a plane and fly to southern Spain for 5-6 days!

Finance is the problem with 7-man X-Ball.... that and then the logistical problems, when it has to happen in the confines of a Major event with 120-130 other teams playing as well.

A lot of this 'insider story leaking' is undoubtedly political and financial posturing. Both power groups (or should I say, all three power groups) are trying to leverage their positions at the negotiating table.

It looks like NPPL's message is 'we're moving ahead with our thing, let us know when you're ready to get serious'.

It looks like PSP is saying 'we've got a bigger majority'

and it looks like Millennium is saying 'we'll throw our weight towards whoever looks like they're going to win'

I've gotten 'vibes' from this that and the other that say to me that Baca is at least partially right; things may be going too slowly to reach a conclusion for 2006, so the planning will go on and things will be implemented for 2007. Maybe.

Pie, Pie, Pie. its not about cake, its about the size of the slice of pie.

As far as reunifying the pro teams - why not take them all in for one season, with a known cut off (16-24 teams) and let the season decide? Player movement and sponsorship alone during such a season ought to tell the tale by itself.

Yep, sounds about right. Time and a couple of other stumbling blocks that won't be overcome.

Oh Peter, I believe you owe me £50...

The Pro-tour differed from the X-Ball format. It was a best of 5 game match. So the first team to 3 points won the match. If you did win the first 3 points you wouldnt play the last 2 points.

In X-ball you are playing for an alloted time so even if you are 20 points down and the match is lost you still have to play out the time and invariably shoot shed loads of paint for no reason.

The format worked really well and gave the teams the buzz of quick turn-arounds and maintained adrenaline levels, coupled with the technical qualities of the 7-man game.

Many teams played without pit crews and didnt seem to suffer as a result. As long as you are organised you do not need to have a squad of 20 players. You can do the whole thing with 7-8 players as we are doing now in the traditional 7-man format.

As for Scheduling this fornat for 160ish teams.... I have no clue but I am sure that someone out there may be able to shed some light on that.

What do you mean partially, Stevie-D? :p Nowhere in my prediction, nor anywhere else, do I suggest reunification will actually occur.

Re: pie. It's all about the pie, which, btw, figures prominantly in a sure to be highly controversial and inflammatory pair of 'Views' I'm working on right now that should give Beaks the vapors when he sees them. The first one is titled, Why Unification Sucks, and it's partner is, Paintball Held Hostage. :)

Thanks Jeff for these nice remarks! Now, as I said previously, if Millennium wants to keep showing that they can always provide innovations in Paintball formats, let's try to do this in 2006. Our Brits fellows have tested successfully the format during the UK Pro Tour, why don't we just use that experience wisely???
Why always try to pretend that changing things is always better than improving something?

Why change instead of improve?

Its called 'the wolf theory'; the Alpha male HAS to piss on it, so it smells like his territory.

Its an instinctual thing; if the territory markings smell like someone else's piss, suddenly, the bladder is full...
