Rory, I think the point here is, if I was accusing you of similar misdeeds on this forum, and you knew you hadn''t done those things, then I think, come hell or high water, you would defend yourself with the full force of the law, and rightfully so.

The courts are basically a means to an end in this case; the fact other parties benefit from the action is academic because if you truly didn't attempt to steal anything, then you will be awarded costs and damages anyway.

Of course, there is a possibility I am lying here but it would provoke the question as to why I would endure in such matters, and what the hell is my motive.

Similarly, one might suggest I have gone insane which is always a possibility being in paintball for so long but if that were the case, then the other guys responsible for the attempted theft presumably wouldn't have already admitted what they did and duly apologised.

I think it's quite safe to conclude he is lying but that equally beggars the question as to why he would persist in continued denial ... I honestly think he's now gone past the point where it could be classified as pig-headed stubbornness and falls squarely into the realms of a pathology.

My normal reaction to anybody attempting to steal from me would have generally been quite predictable but there was no way I was gonna fall for that one by ending up doing a bit of time for that scum, and so, this is his punishment ....I was gonna say, 'he should take it [his punishment] like a man' but I'm afraid the words 'man' and 'jeff abbott' seem to be mutually exclusive.

It's more a matter of whether or not you can evidence that you genuinely believed the statements you made to be true at time of print - i.e. used information believed to be fact/truthful. The actual truth, whatever it is, dosn't matter so much anyway.

You can probably stop shaking in your boots and come out from underneath the table Pete.

Mat, the facts are independent of belief, I just choose to believe the facts instead of deny them ..... he has the same choice.

In this case, it's not a matter of interpretation or even belief; it's a case of a sick mind ignoring everything and everyone .... the choices available to him have now been reduced to one ......problem is, I don't think he's man enough to do the right thing ...and I'm not talking about apologising ..... but I have an idea ....... i'll think on it awhile and come back on here when I have reasoned it thru.

Very true Pete, if you are left with no other recourse, then the legal route is usually the only option.

I will sit on the fence on this one as I will never pretend to know the fuill facts on this matter, it has had alot of history, and I have known you both for a very long time, and consider you both friends, a position a few people here may also be in, it is probably fair I make this my last post in this thread.

My point above was to both parties really, which is to try and avoid any legal proceedings in thia matter, it will prove a costly and probably fruitless exercise. Therefore implying to anyone that you are willing to take that course (again both sides) does little to help the situation and should be avoided, this is not America!

Peace y'all from Sunny (neutral) Luxembourg.

Probably just a decoy for an Italian Job style heist of your thong drawer - reinforced suspension on the mini being a must.
