Yeah, well, sometimes things sound better in my head. Here, watch me grasp at straws:

Surely, with all those little rug-rats dragging family and, perhaps more importantly, friends to the events it only serves to snowball as those kids decide it looks cool, then they start playing, then they tell a friend, then that friend tells a... you get the idea.

Plus, with all the idiot paintballers running rampant through these poor peoples' towns, and the outside media coverage that's been stirred up this year (NPPL), it's certain that everyone in the area knows what's going on. I can vouch for the rental car counters, local restaurants, and obviously hotels know when we're decending on their city. Granted, knowing and caring are the main difference, but I'd GUESS that atleast a couple people would come out to see what was going on.

How was that, desperate enough? ;)

Here's something I've noticed in our little discussions, whenever we're talking about the games to be televised it's X-Ball, and whenever we discuss the public coming to the events it's NPPL. No earth-shattering revelation there, just a sad statement about the sport today.

Yeah, your countrymen are only in love with road biking because of Lord Lance...before that road cycling was a no-no, except when Lemond was winning. And I know the guys who invented extreme ironing - nice fellows.

Forgive Duffy, he's gettin'... (whispers) he's gettin' kinda' old.
Yep, I am - in my old age I think people may have already read the quote seeing as it was posted in this thread already. Silly me, I forget that the younger generation, with its txtspeak and McAttentionSpan can't read an entire thread, and even if they can, they couldn't possibly be expected to actually remember what a post said, hence the need for reposting the same information in the same thread. Glenn, you're a twat.

Now if you'll excuse me I've got a mug of cocoa on the boil.

I did read over the whole thread, I apologise if I posted the same quote that has already been posted, I simply didn't see it posted before.

No need to cry.

motor racing and paintball don't equate, no matter how hard you try. I tend to use pro volleyball, that you could equate as they are at the same stage in league development. There are Pro volleyball events in HB. The AVP (I think thats what it's called) has much in common with the NPPL, although it does not draw the same crowds at the beach, dispelling the idea that no matter what is put in front of the public, they will still stay to watch.

Motor racing commands some of the highest sponsorship budgets in the world. Comparing it to Paintball is great, but I don't see what it acheives as an exercise, other than to depress everyone...
