This rule sucks and how someone looks are not the most potent arguments I've ever heard.

Someone please tell me that they see my points and answer them. At least look at these things from a judge's point of view.

Simply put: we need to cut down every opportunity to cheat and do everything we can to make the job of reffing easier. It is already too hard as it is.

Let's just face the facts: players want jerseys outside packs because this makes the jersey fluffier and more likely to bounce. Get over it! No player will have any advantage because we'll follow the rule consistently for all.

Either that or the rule gets dropped, and that wouldn't be the end of world for me.

Same thing for pink lemonade, orange juice and bubble-gum dispensers: let's just decide one way or the other and be consistent and hopefully uniform across the leagues.

Thing is Steve, no one likes the rule, or ever has..

Why dont you let people have their jerseys outside of their packs (Like 99% of players nowadays) meaning everyone is on a level playing field anyways. Instead it has annoyed the 99% of ballers who do it!

The chest + belly is a self check area so why is it a problem for refs? If a player feels contact there they check themselves. If they dont, they get penalties :)

The old scool Renegade masters will be rejoicing  :p ;)

I think players wear the shirt over the pack so that they don't look like a clown!

I cannot recall a single time where I've been hit UNDER my jersey when it's been untucked. So to be honest I don't think it makes the it any easier for the refs.

You mentioned players untucking their jersey to cover the hit. Now you're going to have players pulling their jersey up or down to cover a hit on their jersey with the pack. My point is that if the refs are watching the players the players won't have time to reposition their pack/jersey to hide hits. It might look rather suspicious when a player is pulling his jersey up or down or out of his pack.... correct?

Hey Booya,

I don't think I've seen a game yet where every single player was being watched at all times.

OK, I argue for keeping this rule because I think it makes sense. And it looks like some other people think so too because this rule is clearly written in the just-released NPPL rules.

But you guys are missing the main point. If the rules are in the current edition of the rules I'm using, they will be enforced consistently. Or the non-rule will be removed, one way or the other; either by having the rules taken out of the text or I stand in a judges' and a captains' meeting and tell people to take their pens and strick the non-rules.

The main thing is let's make the rules real and consistent with practice so as to cut down on the confusion and dissimilarities from judging crew to judging crew and tournament to tournament.

As for X Ball, we will go with whatever is their standard practice which I will inform people clearly about at the appropriate meeting. (You might want to have a look at the NXL galleries at Warpig.com and make a guess at how they do it there.)

You guys are killing me with this shirt thing. Nobody cares about tucking in the back of the jersey, it's the front y'all want hanging loose. And you want it loose to trampoline paint on occasion and because a loose jersey will in fact hide paint breaks. Or help you hide paint breaks.
It doesn't work all the time but it works often enough that players want to try and take advantage of it.
So just fess up and tell Uncle Steve the truth.

Steve!

I agree you have some points regarding the possibility of hits being hidden under an untucked jersey. BUT, will it ever happen? Yes, but very very seldom. It´s not as if it happens evere second game. I mean, there´s bigger problems to solve than this. I have never been hit under my jersey, NEVER, and I´ve competed for 11 years!

The reason I wanna have it loose is that it feels better, gives me more freedom to move. And it shure looks better too. This is a stupid rule that someone came up with and as people have stated before 99% if not more don´t like it. I think you should get rid of it cus it is not a big problem ( and I have reffed many NPPL:s and Millenniums aswell so I have first hand experience as a ref).

Steve, what if a player is not wearing a pack??? (in x-ball some players don´t need a pack) What are you gonna do then? Write a rule about tucking the shirt into our pants? Well then you might aswell write a rule that says we have to play with socks ontop of our pants if you wanna avoid hits to get hidden under your clothes... now that would look funny don´t you think Tommy :D extremesport stylee hehe
I've taken a few moments to read through the NPPL rules and... well, it looks as though they have done just that...

9.03 ....Jerseys or tops must be tucked into player's pants or harness....

Looks like the xball players will be goin Steve Urkel style.
