I cannot recall a single time where I've been hit UNDER my jersey when it's been untucked. So to be honest I don't think it makes the it any easier for the refs.
You mentioned players untucking their jersey to cover the hit. Now you're going to have players pulling their jersey up or down to cover a hit on their jersey with the pack. My point is that if the refs are watching the players the players won't have time to reposition their pack/jersey to hide hits. It might look rather suspicious when a player is pulling his jersey up or down or out of his pack.... correct?
Hey Booya,
I don't think I've seen a game yet where every single player was being watched at all times.
OK, I argue for keeping this rule because I think it makes sense. And it looks like some other people think so too because this rule is clearly written in the just-released NPPL rules.
But you guys are missing the main point. If the rules are in the current edition of the rules I'm using, they will be enforced consistently. Or the non-rule will be removed, one way or the other; either by having the rules taken out of the text or I stand in a judges' and a captains' meeting and tell people to take their pens and strick the non-rules.
The main thing is let's make the rules real and consistent with practice so as to cut down on the confusion and dissimilarities from judging crew to judging crew and tournament to tournament.
As for X Ball, we will go with whatever is their standard practice which I will inform people clearly about at the appropriate meeting. (You might want to have a look at the NXL galleries at Warpig.com and make a guess at how they do it there.)
