Ok can anyone answer the questions i post earlier seening as the millenium committee cant be arsed especially with regards colour of paint
I suggested at a captains' meeting because it is so much easier to explain these things in a regular conversation.
First off, this is not something the some Millennium committee arsed up regarding color of paint. All the major leagues, including NXL have this rule. Why? Because many of us believe that if we save two exclusive colors for paint only then it will make it a little bit easier for refs to detect hits. We don't want hits to easily get hidden in "camoflauge" that has some of the same color. Anything that reasonably makes it easier to ref, I'm in favor of. Why? Because I ref a lot and because I'm recruiting refs now and our job is hard enough without running across the field to check some sticker or spot on a top that looks just like a hit.
Now you mention other colors. As soon as orange and pink get to be de facto protected color everywhere (not just in the NXL) then players will start only buying orange and pink because they will mark better.
Concerning jerseys/tops: I think the rule I heard was you can pull out your jersey in the front some as long as the front of the pack is not covered more than approx. 3/4ths when standing up.
Concerning tops with padding in the shoulder: it doesn't matter to me whether the padding will take a direct impact without breaking at 10 joules or 15; the rules say no padding except in specifically allowed areas. The rules will be enforced consistently in the Millennium series.
So unless the board tells us differently or the rules are changed, what you can find in the NPPL rulebooks goes. In either case you'll find out what will DEFINITELY apply at Maxs Masters via the captains' meeting.
Those of you who really dislike some of these rules should lobby to get them changed by writing to the NPPL rules committee and Joern Windler, the Millennium rules commissioner.
