When it came to the major events I used to try and train the day before. Now wether that was on my own or invite a couple of players down to do some 2 on 1's (Phil Starr and Chris Schooling, yes it was me who found them) I found that it got rid of those first day blues. It didnt matter that I had trained the weekend before I just found that training the day before helped me get my mind set for the jod ahead. It didnt cost that much at all, just a little paint and a little time.

Yes I agree with all of you, but what you have to put in mind alot of players these days only play for the fun of it. Robbo as you said, alot of teams are made up of freinds or family. This is obviously because they would like to enjoy paintball together, and have a good laugh with the people who you can know you can have a good laugh with.

If people choose to create teams made up of freinds and family, they may not choose to leave that particular team for another more advanced team because they would like to stay playing with the team they had chosen to play with in the first place. There is probably alot of talent which isnt being expressed as well as it could be with alot of players, but that is just how things are. For instance, nexus is made up of some extremely talented paintballers, and how many of them is there? 10? maybe more, but when you compare how many pro UK players there are, to how many UK paintballers there are, thats a tiny proportion of how many players who can play and can actually make it, or choose to become a pro. ( if you get what I mean?!)

We Brits do have alot of talented non-pro players, but are they actually good enough to become pro's? I can name quite a few non-pro players who could but could they handle the pressure? Cope with the commitment etc......?

What im getting to is I really agree with you pete, that we can create some extremely highly talented teams, but could we get the talented players to join that specific team?

They're my views on the matter,

yes easti i agree with you, i know i would definatly find it hard to leave my team because we are all friends and go to the same collage and school and see each other pritty much every day, even in the holidays, i think it would lead to a lot of tention, not going against what robbo said but i belive that if i had the chance to move teams to a fully sponosred team who wouldent? but i would find it very difficult, and results would not come strate away because of haveing to fit in with people you dont know, they might hav the skill to cover your back but they dont have the trust your friends do

I also think that players stay with friends and family because of rthe huge amount of politicing that still goes on in UK paintball.

Many potentially top players want to stay in their comfort zone to avoid the infighting and bitching that accompanies a lot of our top end teams.

Its got a lot better but its still there with people more than willing to tread on others on their way to the top.

i have noticed that a few of the better players in teams are not willing to let "noobs" as such hav there chance, and there not willling to teach them what they know, i can understand that they dont want to have there places on teams compremised, but if everyone help eveveryone we will get further faster.

if it wernt for the better players hu do help the younger ones i would still be lost and playing punter ball

And if they were friends they would understand and wish you well.

Fitting into a new set up is allways hard, but the team that you are joining are allready set, you just have to bring to the table what they saw in you in the first place. The trust from covering your back comes with time and it wouldnt take long to fit in.

I've got to say, every pro player i've spoken too (and there isn't that many so it's not final) has been more than helpful when I spoke to them "out of the group" as in out of their team.

And if you don't ask, you never know!!

gobo's goin' down...
hope i can relate my statement to this thread-
what gets me is that a few of us wanna improve/play/compete against a higher level of team/player in order to learn the hard way if you like...
i wanna get better before i stop playin but we dont seem to get the chance cos that better level of team/player wont play cos they think its a waste of their time/skillset.....and we only get to play a better level when we compete in tournaments, be it uk masters p.a. etc or europe, millenium (all i've managed) and that is an expensive way to learn and also few and far between to class as 'regular' play/trainin....

wish we could play a wider range of teams with no issues and no scandalous fees....
