Stick to this, and it will happen.
Yeah, I totally get that. Most of our team haven't even played on Sup Air and for now our 'training' has just been playing as a team at the local Walk On. While this may not be any good for learning specific skills, over the past few months we have seen a real improvement in team work and communication.

Money has been an issue as far as training is concerned, but mainly because there are no local sup air sites. We are planning on heading down the training days with the jag's at chuck's site and hopefully taking away some tips and drills etc that we can practice.

But, we also want to get into a tourney asap. Not because we're over eager to get on the field. But we believe that in order to get the most out of training we really have to see where we sit in a tourney environment.

I know that our team will probably never be a hugely succesful team, partially because of one of the points you made earlier. Our team are primarily friends, but then that's how we want it, we play because we enjoy it any success would be a bonus, but not the be all and end all.

That may change at some point and some/all of us may decide to push harder and be the best that we can be. But for now we're happy to have fun and improve our game along the way.

With all the training facilities now popping up all over the place and the various clinic's with the pro players, hopefully we will see more drive and focus in some of the teams that are already pushing themselves. Just need someone to open one in Norfolk now ;)

Those catalyst people you are talking about will need to have some sort of relationship with industry folks, or at least something to offer these folks, or the team won't get off the ground as a pro team, though, Robbo. You were able to continue Nexus as a pro team because of exposure in PGI and past relationships leading to some people (like Dave Youngblood) investing in your team. That sort of stature is what seems to be missing, among other potential catalyst personalities, and the lack of people willing to invest in relative unknowns will be an issue, I'd think.

pete,

a man of your calibur should be able to put together a best of the best of UK players. the main reason you cant put the best of the best together is because they live all over the country.

personally speaking if i had the opertunity to play for THE best and up and coming team in the UK all i would ask for is travel expenses and a hand with lodgings. would it really costs planet, dye, SP, or angel that much to substitute. i dont think so

i think you should hold a few talent spotting sessons around the country and spot the talent you want and need.

once you have the players you need, with your contacts it would be a piece of piss to get travel and lodgings sorted for these lads on the weekends training at centrally based site i.e fireball or wherever you want

you are the man to make it happen, look what you did with nexus !!

all talk and not enough do in this country !!!

thanxs L V 4 26 yeh i have 2 part time jobs atm to fund it lol i live just a mile away from where DV8 and DVUS train, but i train at a different site with my current team redshift, we hav only been around for a cupple of months, am not expecting mirricals, what robbo was saying about the sites is deffinatly true, i have point blank and paintball persuits (where i work) with in 10 miles of me, i think it is just mostly about keeping at it and haveing the aspirations that a lot of the people have on this bord to keep going, and i belive that in the comeing years i dont see any reason y we cant have more teams playing at the skills that dynasty, iron men, nexuse are.

i was looking at the university challange, and i belive this is anuther gr8 way of finding tallent that not neseceseraly will be found because of people beliveing they dont have the funding

I think that part of the issue of people looking to help teams out of their own pocket and look to a bigger picture is that ultimately they still deserve to get something back.

There are the opportunities out there and there are people willing to help. But players need to be willing to help that person out and show gratitude. There are a large number of younger players that, for whatever reason, believe that they can get it all for free. This darkens the water and sours the mouth of those that would otherwise consider putting their necks on the line and getting involved.

why does everyone want something for nothing?

Since ive started playing, ive paid my own travel expenses, my own hotels and all the other bills.

Now im not saying i haven't had too pay for everything because i haven't and thats largely thanks to people like were talking about. But ive had to prove ive got the commitment in paying my dues first instead of just trying to get a free ride which it seems everyone these days wants.

if you want to reach the top, work hard, make your money, and then go and spend it on balling. You have make sacrifices. You dont go out with friends etc etc.

its your call.

i dont know anyone who wants something for nothing, i work bloody hard to get where i am with paintballing and so dose the rest of me team, we pay for all our own paint, we dont have any sponsores yet. and we get our own traveling expenses, but people hu give us helping hads such as deker and gaz from saac, with our markers, are people who save our lives when it comes to starting up in paintballing
