It would probably help in aquiring some assistance from the industry.

Wouldn't it be more sensible if, either,

the coaches of the UK's three pro teams were all invloved (so it isn't a 'Nexus B')?

or

the prospective sponsors of such a team were themselves proactive is selecting a catalyst individual to bring together a team? Assuming that some sponsor even wants to enter the European/ English market with a new team?

or

this hypothetical catalyst materialize and get together a prospectus, team plan/ mission statement, and through force of will and indomitable vision bring together the necessary physical elements?

Are any of these young turks up to the unappetizing job of organizing a new pro team? Is that a potential squandering of talent, taking a potential player and turning him into a manager prematurely? Isn't there some guy name Marcus something that might have the street cred to get the job done without sacrificing a future career as a player (I am not real familiar with this guy, so that may be naive or just off in some way)?

Now i know it was many moons ago but when i was asked if i wanted to play for NWC i would have done anything and gone anywhere not to have missed the opportunity.

Boy I'm glad i did:D

I have read your full posting many times trying to decide whether or not your having a bit of a 'dig' for some reason. Maybe i've missed something and as it was adressed to pete who picks up on subliminal messages quicker than radar i fear i may have indeed missed something in the text:confused:

If someone is being that clever, can't you just annoy them by being obtuse, intentionally or otherwise? Numbed ankles for the ankle-biters, I say. Assuming there was some ankle-biting going on.

Millsy, I just got back this weekend from doing just that.
I went down to Chris Pelling's site near Exeter and selected a team of five players to form the genesis guys for a new pro team that Chris is hopefully gonna guide thru for the next year or so.
I will keep in contact with him to make sure all is going OK and being done correctly but Millsy, I just ain't got the time or money in me pocket to keep doing these things.

I have already had one site owner trying to put on a weekend like this, allegedly trying to charge something like 50 quid on the back of my name going up there to do it and then expecting me to do it for nothing

Makes me wanna vomit sometimes these piss takers.

My free weekends are at a premium already mate with training and tourneys, if I still wanna stay one half of a marriage I think I better find more time and not less.

Still, the irony is, I would rather do it (select the teams) because then I know it will be done correctly .............I know that sounds arrogant and I suppose it is but I really don't give a sh!t.

I trust my own judgment in paintball matters and I only trust about another 5 people in this sport in terms of making the right choices across the required spectrum for team selection.

Good luck to Chris and the guys. You know that you know have the best players from the trials.

Yeah I know what you mean Gyro hit upon this a couple of posts ago.

I just think that with yourself having team selection, it brings alot more clout to the formation of the team and no disrespect to the other top teams out there, but up and coming players and existing players have seen what you have done with Nexus. Now the sponsors may not be in place, but one thing that they will be able to relate to from the Nexus model was who selected the team and that can only be a good thing. Like I say this is no disrespect to the other teams out there. It creates a good base to build from.

Thanks. We certainly do have the best of the bunch and every one of them is young, talented and eager to make an impression.

We now have the players. It is time to finish building the team. It's not easy, cheap or quick and the next step is, perhaps, the most important: creating the brand identity.

Expect an announcement about this new team, aiming for the top spots within a couple of weeks.

And thanks again to Pete. He gave up his weekend free of charge and stood in the cold mud all weekend to ensure that we got the best guys from the trials attendees. In addition, he helped every player who attended walk away with a better knowledge of the sport and their own personal game!

None of Shockwave or Nexus or Tigers would have travel expenses paid for to train. You do it for the love of the game, and for the love of playing at a high level.

I spent all my student loans, and overdrafts at Uni paying for travel and food travelling from Leicester to Bristol for three years. I never got that back, and didnt ask for it back, I was prepared to do it because I loved what I was doing. I spent more in the last four years than many other players in the UK. It is the same for many of the players playing on Shock, Tigers and Nexus.

There are too many freeloaders in the UK:rolleyes: With exactly the same attitude that you have just displayed. The fact that you think that sponsors would find it easy to pay for travel and lodgings is hilarious. If the team can run with those expenses included in their sponsor package, then that package is huge. Because I know of no team in the UK who reimburse their players for petrol. With my team, each player, bar one, travels at least 140 miles to our training venue. Can you imagine how much that costs? AFAIK there is only one team who pays for their players hotels for training.
