New MS gun rules

This just in

"In a response to recent forum postings across the worldwide web regarding the Millennium Series' mooted change in gun policy, we feel the need to act in a decisive manner to set the record straight - unfortunately we are totally unable to do so, so will continue to vaciliate wildly from one untenable position to the next for the forseeable future. That is our stated policy, but obviously it may change given gun advancements; what the NPPL and PSP do; what Robbo says; and whether we find our lucky rabbit's foot our not.

"One thing we can confirm is that we will have a robot in place for Paris, although whether Metal Mickey can actually deliver is as yet unknown, so we may opt to change over to Tweekie from Buck Rogers. Rumours that suggest we have reprogrammed the robot from Lost In Space to say 'Danger Pete Robinson, Danger' every time a large, red faced skinhead approaches us looking angry are totally without foundation.

"Thankyou for sticking with the world's premier Paintball League."

Press Release

Wow, that leaked out fast!!

But not very acurately either.

It is true that we releasing a change to rules in a follow-up to the announcement Laurent made in Amsterdam. Due to insurance/safety reason we have been forced to reduce the number of shots a gun can make once the player stops firing. Current versions of the PSP mode make upto 4 extra shots released and this, we now believe, is unsafe and dangerous not only to players but to our referees as well.
As for the rest, none of it has changed, button pushing etc was always with the judges permission.
I understand players frustration at the timing of this release but need for this change has been forced on us.

Full details of the changes will be released shortly.

Duffy, you rule!

Is it thinkable that one or two gnomes on the Millennium board are looking individually at some new alignments next year and are already starting to sabotage the series in favour of a different series?

Can't think of any other rational explanation.

Translation: insurance won't allow it.

Sorry, but belief and concern for safety issues, after what has gone before, don't cut it in the unspun world.

Scutty - given carte blanche, what would be your personal solution of choice?

I didn't think I was "leaking it".... I rather thought the players deserved to know, as soon as I knew.

- It's not like your organisation has a history of acting fast... so you should appreciate that others help you out getting the info out ;)

I now look forward to seeing the press release - and seeing where exactly it is I have misrepresented the contents of it - I don't think I did...

Anyway - are you going to comment on the fact that everyone in here seems to believe you have left it too late - and should give teams better notice before making such changes??

SOME teams only have to option of getting boards re-flashed in the states you know..... and it is quite apparent to everyone, that getting that done in time for Paris is an impossibility!

The hopper rule sucks.

Imagine breaking out and realising it's not turned on. Or getting pulled for using a rip drive in a tense 1 on 1.

As with the shots - go back to capped semi at 15bps for this event only - all Tadao boards (the one 90% of people use) can do that. THEN state now that Campaign onwards will be this modified ramping.

Can't think of any other rational explanation.
Lack of planning, conflicting opinions within the MS, public criticism, varying laws, lack of willpower, internal powerplays, repositioning of alliances, changing your mind depending on the opinion of whoever you spoke to last etc. etc.

I can think of lots of rational explanations and I think the truth is they all come into play.

While I have no doubts that certain MS promoters' futures lie away from the series, I do not believe any of them is doing any deliberate sabotage.

As I said earlier, farce, but the Millennium is not the only series that can have that charge brought up against them, they just seem to be doing things in a monumentally ham fisted way.
