My understanding was that this year's Milleniums had a lot more bunkers... wouldn't this make for less predictable breaks and game progressions? Wouldn't that make it harder to capitalize on good laning skill?

Maybe it's just that more people are playing now, and the ones who are playing are practicing more, and they have better equipment relative to the pros equipment, and the advantage that pro teams used to have over everyone else is smaller?

Yes, ramping is happening at the same time, but correlation is not causation.

Hi, Missy Q here, 1st time poster, long time reader.

I have a question:

Is Causation a word?
If it isn't, then its not just correlation that isn't causation, its everything...

EDIT ADDED: Glad to see you've stopped lurking, and... yes, causation is a word. TFP

Results.

As ramping is now all over the place any pro team can lose to a div2 team.

What has happend is that when everybody shoots 15 bps ( it took years of practice for a good player to reach 11-12 bps) breakouts are now like Russian roulette. Ask Dynasty against Cyclone in Paris..

Also its easier to hold lanes and play defensive.
It will take the aggresive teams some time to adjust, and that means shorter breakouts and less movement and really boring games.
But it will happen.
Looking at the final teams in Paris you could clearly see that all of them are known for their defensive or technical approach.

Its not rocket science guys..

And Chicago, there is no causal link between smoking and cancer, the only link we have is one of coincidence and stats but you still ain't getting my ass anywhere near a cigarette :)

Ah, but there are plenty of trials wheere you have group A, which is virtually the same as group B, where the ONLY difference is that one group smokes and the other does not, and the smoking group always has a drastically higher rate of cancer.

The same is not true for ramping. Paintball when there was no ramping was drastically different than paintball is now in many ways other than ramping, especially in Europe where the gap between your "average" tournament player and Dynasty was even bigger than stateside a few years ago.
