TOPPLED A COUNTRY???

You say that 'you' just toppled a country in 3 weeks, but there was little resistence, and you had far superior weapons and numbers. What you have just said reinforces my fears that the USA led by Bush went into Iraq merely to 'topple' the nation.
The easiest way to cope with war is to make sure it ends quickly and decisively...We've done both of those...Sure we could have just stormed Basra and killed a ****load of people or not have bombed Republican Guard in Baghdad and gone in thier and have Stalingrad redux but we didnt..This as as close as you will come to flawless as we've occupied a nation in a short period of time with minimum casualties..What number of friendly fires are acceptable to you??Bombs go off course, machines malfunction, and humans make mistakes..These are things that will never change during war or in life for that matter..Your aims are unrealistic during conflict..

Reasons Bush toppled Iraq:
1)American and world security
2)WMD

Everything else that comes out of it is a bonus...

With all the technology about nowadays...hmm.....how about 0!!! Or is that too much to ask. Soldiers have enough to worry about without the threat of being killed by their own side. Didnt the UK lose more soldiers in the last Gulf War as a result of the Americans killing them raather than the Iraqi's killing them?? Is that going to be the case this conflict to?

Is that not why the soldiers put years into training....? to eliminate mistakes???

So the economic benefits didnt affect his decisions at all then??

big big titties
well....the blitzkrieg tactics worked for hitler as head rock says, and it worked for us as he says....a whole country in 3 weeks!!!

thing is about civilian casualties, if this was in a normal country there wouldnt be so many, but the iraqis use civilians as cover from fire.....as i heard...the iraqi artillery moved into civilian areas so they couldnt be shot at!

its not our fault (completely)
i agree on the technology fron thought....our cruise missiles or some such things have the ability to turn street corners and go through windows into certain rooms of houses....yet on the 2nd night of the war....1 cruise missile managed to make its way to terran or suthing like that:confused:

anyway....cant we just stop arguing....there will always be civilian casualties....cant stop it!!

an interesting fact i found on a website for the Gulf war.
when the coalition was formed, the British acceptable casualty rate was 7%, america was 25% !!! but im not dissing Americans....as they have (sort of;) ) saved our country

did you hear about the Frenchies vandalising a mass grave???? of 10,000 British soldiers!!! who was it who helped them get their country back???? ill leave that for you to decide....
i dont know where i was going on the last note...i get carried away:)

Yes,0 is to much to ask...Even US and British understand that friendly fire accidents will happen..In a perfect world these accidents wouldnt happen but as we all know,we're not perfect..Friendly fire casualties are tragic but until we learn to fight wars without troops, they will always happen...

That just strengthens my point as to why friendly fires will always happen..These people spend years training and its still not enough..You cant help when a identification beacon on plane malfunctions and ends up getting shot down by a Patriot or if 2 pilots crash thier helicopters..Humans arent perfect and neither are machines..

Main bit says something similar to 'Saddam will conquer and your blood will spill'. mind u anyone who takes this one act of vandalism to be an act of the French people is just plain stupid. It was a few irresponsible people who know sh*t all about anything.

well the quote that was reported here was along the lines of "take your bodies back they're contaminating our soil"

**** 'em and **** all that think like that, perhaps they should look back and see who those soldiers died for!

Cowardly, ignorant, insulting excuses for people. From a nation that seems increasingly likely to be found out for selling prohibited items to Iraq it's the last straw.

Chiraq has said that the UK/US should have no part in a post conflict Iraq and it should all be done through the UN....I wonder why.....all those contracts that have been lost, "food for oil" that has gone to building that nice shiny new palace and buying weaponry whilst the people starve.

Damn I'm annoyed by all of this:mad: I know where I think the next set of sanctions should start!

Searching for the pro-tour....:S
my 2p's worth

I've resisted posting on these war thresds until now but I've got to say something.

Ok the friendly fire is bad, but it used to happen far more but without modern technology probably just got lost in the fog of war.

Civillian casulaties, hello, the blitz, our bombing of Germany, mass killing of the general population. Other recent wars, the mutilations and gang rape of women as a weapon of war in countless conflicts. War is a terrible thing and all things considered I think that the loss of life in the invasion of iraq could have been far worse. I don't condone the actions of the coalition as I feel the pretence of liberating the Iraqi people was just spin to cover the liberation of the iraqi oil wells! I could be misjudging our leaders here, and if I tryly am then I apologise, however I don't believe that all those billions of dollars were spent waging a war for no profit, do you?

However I am fully behind the US and UK troops out there in the **** risking everything while we sit around pontificating in the comfort of our homes!!

Latest polls ive seen has a 1/3 of the French poulation hoping the coalition loses the war..Real nice..Glad to see the last 55 years of blood, toil, tears, and sweat(thanks Winston:) )have meant something to them...

I say bring the bodies home to a well deserved resting place...If thier not wanted,im sure the US would be glad to find a place here for them...

And easy on the sanctions Cube:)..I know what its like when emotions get the best of us:eek: :p ..they have devastated enough people already..But I totally agree that France,Russia, and Germany should have no say in a post war Iraq except for maybe delivering food and medicine to the Iraqi people..The first thing they can do with motivation from the US is to lift the current sanctions and let Iraq start trading freely again..But God only knows if they will politicise that as well...Im banking on it that they will..Another slap in the face of the Iraqis besides stroking Saddams c**k for the last 35 years..
