I don't think naming and shaming will work in the slightest...

If you want to penalise these people, make the penalties harsher so it's not worth the risk and get better judges to watch over the games. Maybe also allowing video evidence or something.

But then haven't we discussed this before?

What we need is a better judging system/judges. But that aint easy to implement.

As you can see i'm quite new to this forum, i have played in tournaments, but i enjoy rec-ball for the fun it is.
Would it be possible to introduce a simple photocard membership system for tournament players at tournaments. So that anybody playing would have to identify themselves before playing, and if any penalties were given to players for whatever reason, then they could be enforced by a governing body at the site at the right time, when it matters.

I think steps are being taken in the right direction now that all the major UK tournament organisers have agreed (or are in the process of agreeing) that if a team gets penalised in one tourniy then it will get carried to all the other events (i.e banned from SWL, banned from MM, M25 S2k3)

But has already been pointed out, it would be hard to crack down on the people that do intetionally cheat.

As Robbo said, at some point everyone has cheated. I know I have, but it was unitentionally whenI first started playing tournament ball, but would this mean that I should have been named and shamed? (I stepped out of bounds accidently and didn't know that it elimanated you before anyone asks)

Just my 2p's worth

Naming a shaming achieves nothing.. how often do these forums ring with the cries of "LaSoya did this" or "LaSoya did that"? Does anyone listen? Does it make any difference? No.

In many cases nobody wants to rock the boat, in many cases the infraction is imagined. It is very rare that a major infraction of the rules results in a major penalty.

As for banning players from various leagues or tournaments, please!!! With whole teams that might work but with individual players??

Only in the Big Leagues, where the players are well enough known to be recognisable and even then, if the banned player wanted to play, I'm fairly sure he could get away with it, if not for his own team then for someone elses.

No way is a Novice or even Am B team player getting banned going to be feasible to enforce. Let's say, during the first MM event of the season I decide to lump an opposing player on field. I get banned, or a would expect to. Forums full of "Oh, Urban from Apoc got banned, bad guy!"

Chances are the only person who would recognise me again is the guy I lumped... no marshall, no ultimate, no other players. How hard would it be to join another team, or fill one of the "player needed" spots, or re-register for the MM series under a different name? Not very would be my guess. If not the second event, I'd be playing again by the third.

No point naming a shaming in my opinion, and no point issuing off-field punishments while the current system seems so easy to bypass.

Oh, and these comments in no way mean I would lump anyone during the course of a paintball tournament.. it's a game I play, is probably going to have pretty close to zero influence on my life overall, and therefore isn't worth getting that worked up about.

A possible way to address this as always is strickter penalties/enforcement of the rules, deliberate wiping could result in a 'however many'-for-1 plus 80 penalty points. maybe a breakdown of the scores could be included somewhere??

Mate, even then he would struggle, you are pretty forgetable ;)

Personally i think an ID card system would be great, but pointless if not fully controlled and monitored. That takes time and money, a thing us ballers boast of having but rarely show

How about we just start to tar and feather players, either that or feed em to SAD FA ;)

Anything but that...:D :D :D (I'm going to get into trouble for that..)

Nameing and shameing is all well and good as is banning. But what happens when the banned plkayer plays for a high profile team who are sponsored by certain sites. When this team gets banned he then goes complains to the site owner who is put on the case and then threatens the event organisers with not letting them play such event. this causes the event organiser to back down from the banning as evnts are hard enough to find venues for as it is without places pulling out [this ring any bells anywhere?]
We have to face it cheating does happen in paintball but its not like its the only sport which it happens, anybody can tell you that football is rifwe with cheating divers and that is embraced by the nation. Its down to us players to accept that if we choose to cheat and we get caught we have to pay the consequences for it.
Its no good complaining to somebody to put the squeeze on to lift the banning, live with it. Theres a moral to this story:

You did the crime, you do the time.
