They gotta do a proper job

Wadidiz; that sounds about right to me. Get in there, wipe the hits off but they then gotta make it openly known that the hits were wiped coz they invalid. You see it so many times on the vids when judges wipe dudes down and no-one gets any indication as to why. So you might get shot up a bit, who gives a ****, wear more padding. ;)

Cool.... Ta Rancid

As you said i was unaware of the fact that a marshall was telling him to play on. However as Waddiz said he should have been wiped down. I'm not taking a dig at Shock. Even if they were playing on they were only doing what all pros in any sport do which is push it to the limit. You get caught then your knackered. You don't and your a hero. I'm not debating the relative merits of playing on. I'm concerned about bad marshalling. I'll play any tourney no matter how **** the facilities if the marshalling is good. I value you that over absolutely anything else.

Cheers

Ahhh i see

Oh right cool now i understand.
Like you say you can't go on pictures alone but when ever i've marshalled people and they got shot i've gone in and wiped them down. (If it was required obviously:D ) I remember when Shockwave played image at Mayhem (just before they folded) and at the end of the game the crowd was going ballistic at Richmond (he was seriously dripping in paint) beleiving him to have played on when in fact his mugger had gone long before he ever got there. (Where talking at least a full minute here)
Bottom line you gotta get in there and wipe people down if you think its right or else you are totally screwed at the end of the game when the other team notices. A bad game to pick cus that game had plenty of problems but partially validates my point.

Cheers

So whaddayasay, while I'm still on my crusade to save the world from bad reffing, can't you all write e-mails to your MPs, congressmen and women, representatives, Saddam Hussein, John Pilger and the Znet, Bill Cookston, Niall Squire, Jean-Manuel MARIES, George Dubya Bush and anyone else you can think of, and tell them: "We're mad as hell and we's ain't gonna take it no mo'!"

Tell 'em you want the marshalls to declare marshall law. To le'go my eggo. To leave Posh alone. That we got zips at the tree-line. (Soon they're gonna be feeding me under the door.) Tell 'em we want the new rules!

Teach the refs well, tell everyone what to do when a play-on happens, what to do when someone tries to hang a flag with a hit, how to wipe non-valid hits, how to check player ID cards, how to tell a fashion player that he can't play with his padded jersey, how to calmly grab a second and third armband, how to keep the deadboxes stoked with dead players, etc. etc.

My therapist told me to try to get it off my chest but I just get in more of a frenzy.

No need to tell Niall

His boys at campaign knew there shiznit. We as a team had some weird calls but hey you gotta expect some of those. However when you dive to a barricade and a marshalls dives after you you knows he's committed!!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

If you want better reffing, you're going to have to PAY for it.

If people want consistent reffing, refs are going to have to be required to take reffing classes, ref together, and go through a day or two of events procedure prior to the event. And they're going to have to be paid for all of it - if someone offered to charge me $50 to get certified as a ref to make $100/day, I'd laugh at them. Pay you for the ability to pay me a crap wage for nasty work? I don't think so.

And doing that right will easily at least quadruple the costs for reffing paid now. Which is going to tack on a few hundred bucks to your entry fees.

So, better reffing, or $80 extra per player at each event you play?

People need to understand that stuff is not free. Yes, we all want better reffing, but the second you tell someone it's going to up the costs to play the event, they're not going to be as interested anymore.

Hmmm maybe

Well taking the Banzai's for example or Campaign. (Or Campaign power) They didn't need to attend special classes and they still managed to provide top draw Marshalling. (I apologise to all other people who marshalled at campaign. Its just there're the people i remember)
For me its a question of pride. When i marshall i want to do the best job i can for the paying customer. I also find that strict marshalling leads to less arguing.

I agree with standardization of rules though.
