some things which were told on the spl-meeting last weekend. please do not rely to 100% on what will stand in the next few lines, cause i was not in paris on my own. and please excuse my bad english.

Roster:
max. 12 players/season
max. 9 players/event
max. 7 players/match

Crew:
max. 10 persons in the pit (max. 7 players)
you can assign other players as pit crew, those do not need a additional pit-crew ID

you have to choose your season-roster before the 2nd event.
after the 2nd event you can't assign new players to your roster.

there will be a 2nd-team rule which will allow you (to some limits) to have players of a 2nd team change from divII or div I to the spl-team. the 2nd-team must have the same name and same owner as your 1st team. it has to start at the 1st MS-event and has to play div I or divII.

playing-mod SPL-2007:
o 8 groups with 4 teams each
o only the first team of each group reaches the next round (quarter-finals)
o 10 minutes max. game-time
o 3 minutes break between points (2 minutes in 2008)
o 4 points max. per match (i think e.g. 4:3, 4:1, and so on)

good luck to all of you in the upcoming season!

Wow.. 8 groups of 4 with only one team advancing in prelims...

Sure sucks that whoever is unlucky enough to end up in the same bracket as the 1st seed can't do better than 9th....

Yeah - correlate that with the new entry fees and playing only to 4 points.... and it becomes quite a ****ty deal.

I wonder how they are going to place all the 24 teams that don't qualify?

Starts to look like the SPL is not that thought through.

Correct me if i`m wrong, but if you get them to let the 2 best out of each group to go trough, that will make 16 teams ( out of 8 groups)
After that there is direct knockout games (just like from the quarter finals)
This will only give the Millenium 8 more games to fit into the schedule, and the teams a better chance to advance.

If not, the teams that is not ranked high after some tournaments will have a pretty hard time to get a chance to advance in the rankings.

Sounds a whole lot better to me!

This is just the sort of situation the Millennium guys have missed out on where a continued dialogue between player representation and the board pays huge dividends because I had the self same discussion yesterday when talking to Nick Brockdorrf whereby the problem with only having 8 teams go through became apparent.
What Frank says is right and this present intrinsically unfair system would have been weeded out long before it got anywhere near ulrich's rubber stamp.

It's good to talk ....

It all flies in the face of the way it has always been organised ie over 30 teams entered in a bracket in the past meant there were 16 qualifiers.

My arithmatic isnt too hot but 8x4=32 every day of the week

Not that just because its always been done that way means things cant change BUT it hardly seems right to me.

All too often teams that have gone onto win or place in a tournament have squeeked through in the lower orders (for various reasons and vagaries of draws etc) and gone onto play the best Sunday ball. This new qualification system means that you tread on your d#ck and you're out. Also there is little to aspire to for the weaker teams who might not be capabale of 3 wins but can pull out 2 and qualify in second spot and look forward to playing in the Club.

Paintball at this level involves massive personal sacrifice and expense. The MS should be returning that investment with the prospect of some opportunity of game time and excitment for more than 25% of the teams entered in each tournament.

Lets not lose sight of the reality of the participants who might expect a little better value or 'bang for their buck', to coin a phrase.

Well, i was the only one raising questions about this in the meeting in Paris, but nobody from the other teams that was there seemed to care about that.
