also if the no padding at shoulders rule comes is it fine to play with dye tops if you take off shoulder tops?
There will be three separate rulebooks in Millennium this year: Millennium 7-player rules , NXL rules and Division X Ball rules.

Concerning the 7-player rules, I hope to know exactly what those rules will be within the next day or so; Millennium and NPPL are supposed to become almost identical again and we've been working on that.

EXL rules are exactly the same as NXL rules although there may be some very small differences in interpretation. The Division X Ball rules are exactly the same as what PSP uses in America and almost identical to NXL rules. The main difference is 20 minute halves for Division X Ball and 25 minute halves for NXL/EXL.

There are many rules in all the major league rulebooks which are identical. As I've pointed out on this thread earlier NPPL, PSP and NXL all make it clear where padding is allowed to be and not allowed to be. A compromise was made last season to allow Dye jerseys with padded shoulders if the undershirts under them didn't have shoulders. I want to get rid of the ridiculous situation where judges have to take the time and energy to dig under players' shirts to check that. This matter hasn't been decided completely yet but I'm suggesting that teams that have Dye tops with padded shoulders be prepared with a back-up plan (alternate jerseys) It could be that we will have to phase out the Dye jerseys with padded shoulders over the period of one, two or more tournaments to give teams a chance to find alternatives. We'll see.

To be honest, the whole situation is unreasonable for the players.

Dye sponsors your team: Dye gives you 10 playing tops as part of that sponsorship. Your contract says if you practise, play or are photographed in anything apart from your Dye tops you are in breach of contract.

What are Dye teams supposed to do now - I mean right now?

I know this isn't your fault Steve, but, well, you're here so you're getting it:p
Just put your mom to work and cut out the padding.....

I agree that there's alot of things which are not very clear in the rules, however i agree with steve on the fact that the padding issue could easily get out of hand if there would not be acted on it now.

And any fool can see the only reason playing tops have padding on the shoulder area is because of bouncing(not that i think it will help much). It should be banned but i think the MS organisation should have been more clear about it a long time ago.

PS) The beanie issue, is a bit more irrelevant because it actually does provide protection for a highly sensitive zone of your body.

Pardon me saying so, but if you think banning tops with padding in the wrong places actually takes care of that problem (refs having to check each player for the appropriate layers of clothing), then I say you're not thinking straight. Because if that happens, who's going to check if the players who play in tourney legal tops for what they wear underneath their tops? Who is going to stop players from wearing extra (thick) layers of clothing underneath their jersey? It's still the same amount of work, with or without "illegal" tops. So please come up with something better. I would also like to mention that I do not understand why you don't approve of players playing in nothing but a so called illegal jersey (with nothing underneath). Because if you say that the padding on the shoulders on a player with nothing underneath their jersey will still provoke bouncers, I will again say, please think before you speak.

Anyway, I am going to have my mom make the thickest beanie, because you can't be too carefull when it comes to your head...

Yeah, yeah. Don't get all relevant on me!:) I thought it was a good story for a while. I'll just have to go back and say that the whole thing is ridiculous no matter what. The jerseys should not be allowed, they will be phased out and that's that.

And go ahead and get one of those thick down comforter quilts made into a turban. You've proven me wrong on a point and you obviously have a precious processor there to protect.:p

But Steve, I just don't understand why you are so keen on having them banned, if they proove to be 100% legal in comparison to two layers of clothing (on the shoulder area). Or do you honestly think that the shoulder padding does provoke bouncers even without any clothing underneath?
