Yeah score boards at PSP suck, NXL this year impact scored a point, score boards went down and they nearly lost the point... it was only the fact that the computer had maintained the info that allowed them to just play on after 20 mins when the boards were back on.

Half the boards there read the wrong results they sucked lol

As for boycotting the Mills, it will not happen, no matter how many problems it has, people still aspire to play it and right now there is not really any competition for them thus being the only BIG euro league it will continue to draw in teams regardless of how they feel about it. And are paintballers ready for a perfect league? Can paintballers afford one? probably not.

No matter who runs it the draw of financial incentive will be just as big if not bigger than providing the best facilities.

I think the point here is being skewed somewhat, we cannot expect a perfect league but we can expect a better one and that's all we are asking for here.

A league that returns value for money, a league that treats us fairly and courteously .....is that too much too expect ???

If it is, then we are in real trouble...

I have a feeling it is too much to expect, paintball on a tourney level seemed to have grown so fast and people who ran tourneys really benefitted from it, with the economic decline and just the mess we have found outr selves in people don't seem to be willing to invest in it for the long term, ie draw a lower salery for a few years until it balences out. It seems to alll be about gain here, and with that in mind it seems to be being done by cutting corners.

In-experienced refs, fields that slope up / down, surface thats un known, PSP this last week a couple of fields had drains in the middle of them. Its not just the MIll, it seems to be everywhere although its the Mill you are concerned with.

Until people in charge can step back and look at the long-term picture and maybe make some short term sacrifices nothing will change for the good, and our game and them in the long term will suffer.

Ballers are too scared to vote with their wallet and until we grow balls to do so here by we find another reason why nothing will change.

At the end of the day its just another tournament in a field!

Its been like that all along a World Cup Disney, you didn't mention the two types/length of grass on the fields though, in reality not many moan about it, they just want to play World Cup and TBH I have seen British paintballers moan about surfaces that were better than the NXL Field, we moan, the Yanks just get on and play!!!

As for the scoreboards, there is really no excuse for that, as they were broke before they landed in Orlando!

Surely the whole point of the Millennium Board being present at World Cup last weekend was for them to compare the two events/series. There is little need for us to do so!

thats my point silver, Euro ballers wouldnt know what to do with a perfect field.
Most UK tourney fields are in a better state than the cups NXL field, in england we seem to have this vision that they run on perfect turf, when in reality its just what evers there when they shove up the posts and netting, which balls go through all the time.

The field / netting / refs may not be great but the atmosphere and attitude stateside is different. Its hard to explain for those who havent been but the atmosphere seems to make it good, despite the state of the fields. Oh and the 7.30am starts..... SADISTS!!!

Okay okay okay - in all honesty it actually don´t really matter what the standards in the PSP/NXL is, I know I sort of started it BUT now I see I did wrong ! ;)

We shouldn´t compare the leagues trying to figure which is better, we should actually just concern about making the one WE have here in Europe better ?

And actually in my oppinion just to clear that up, the state of the FIELDS in the PSP was actually better than the regular Millennium field - not the scoreboards, reffing and such BUT the surface (which is what you just discussed)! Would any day prefer playing on proper grass instead of way too thin turf !

But okay most grass in Europe would get too moist = muddy with the weather conditions we have anyway.... Maybe actually scheduling the various legs of Millennium in the "proper" months would work better hehe ?

Right - back to Millennium and what we are still lacking in OUR league ! :)

Seeing the name of Brockdorff and a touch of humility just launched me off my sofa into a near state of catatonic shock ........ and then I saw 'Freddie' preceded the surname and the universe as we know it then returned to normal .... :)

Sorry gal, couldn't resist it ......
Thought we had put all of that talk behind us ? ;)

But I do think most people know we CAN in fact be reasonable people at times, and know how to admit when we are in fact wrong (eventhough we are mostly right!) !

(I couldn´t resist either hehehehehe)

I respectfully submit that you have no idea what you are talking about.

There are two kinds of scoreboards at PSP events.

There is the NXL scoreboard, which is driven from a laptop, and used on the NXL field only. The scoreboard has been in use since 2002, and is quite beat-up at this point. But, all of the scoring is done on the laptop, and the scoreboard just displays what is displayed on the laptop. So if the scoreboard goes down, the ONLY thing that happens is you can't see anything on the scoreboard. It has NO EFFECT on what is displayed/tracked/whatever on the laptop. Ergo, scoreboard failure CAN NOT have ANYTHING to do with "loss" of points.

Then there are the REST of the scoreboards PSP uses, which are ENTIRELY different models and DO NOT have any laptop computers involved whatsoever. They work pretty much perfectly. If the score displayed on them wasn't right, it was simply because the person operating the score forgot to change the number displayed. But even here, score is kept on the score sheet, not the score board, so scoreboard failure shouldn't lead to any "loss" of points.

In conclusion, the NXL scoreboard is old and on the verge of self-destruction. But it's just a giant display of what's on the laptop - if it goes down, it doesn't affect anything other than the audience's ability to see the score etc. And the other 9 fields all had scoreboards in perfect working order (in fact, they had just been picked up from an overhaul at the manufacturer mere days before the event.)
