reading through all this and the gripes people have with the mills. wouldnt it make sense to boycott an event or 2 and let the mills suffer in the pocket? if the locations are sh*t, traders are being sh*t on, reffing problems, sub standard fields etc etc etc. surely if you say NO then they will have to sit up and sort it out. never played the mills and at the moment reading all these comments i doubt i would want to. would personally spend my cash supporting the local leagues. its alright moaning about stuff but then going out and paying the fees still seems a bit wrong. if money is all they seem interested in then surely hurting them where it hurts the most is the best course of action? hit them in the pocket. not looking for an argument but thats just an outsiders take on whats being said here. :)

uk refs are excellent by the way.

I know quite a few people who own companies and their end of year balance sheet shows no profit whatsoever but if you knew what they were drawing as salaries, it would make your nuts retract into back into your pelvic shelf .....

And so, when I sometimes hear, 'we don't make no money Pete' - I reply, 'don't make me laugh' :)
Pete answered it for me.

I am well aware that they are taking a good personal salary.

I do not mind folk getting paid for doing a job but the salary has to be reasonable to the source it comes from and the results that the employee gets.

We are paying them, if there was full disclosure of how much of our cash was spent there would be an uproar.

All the money we pay to play should go to improving our tournaments.

I remember paying less to play a c cup, pre team sponsorship, at crystal palce with 11 fields being played and marshaled.

As for those pesky rules.

I have been 141'd for my speed feed falling off, being shot in the pack on a corner run. Though my personal favorite was been done over after bunkering a guy clean, ran the highway on the snake.... then getting shot by the back center. I got 141'd for continuing another pace after being shot in the direction of travel. Those were the words, near enough, from the ref.
I'm afraid i can not stop, mid air, and change direction, it goes against a few laws of physics.

Another thing, those score boards.

They are hopless. The buzzer does not correlate to the count down = players being pulled.

Why have complex board if you can not make it work?

How about a cricket styled board with a count down clock on, fool proof.

plus, pray why, were the board manufacturers allowed to demo the boards to prospective buyers so close to the fields. Them showing what the buzzer sounded like caused lots of problems in the last two events.

sounds like the mill crew need to be kidnapped and locked in a room with Robbo and made to read this thread. Surely they must have some idea about what needs doing?
Or are they just too wound up in their own massive saleries?
Its seems to be right now the Millenium is like the target for european teams to play and if this is all players have to aspire to playing on a somewhat local yet international level its a sad sad time.

mind you I know some of the lower div fields at PSP world cup had issues as well.

One swallow don't make no spring Jon, and would that his attitude and demeanour be the same with everyone as it is with you but I'm afraid his shortfalls only seem to flourish when he begins to bristle with power ...during problems that erupt or demands that he is making.

Every organisation that deals with the public will have problems, it is the nature of the beast I'm afraid and paintball tournaments are not immune from this, far from it in fact, it's an extremely sensitive area due to the nature of our sport.
We pay a lot of money and there is an expectation, or rather a duty of care from the organizers for them to treat us fairly and courteously even though during some heated on-field discussions, things are getting agitated.

It is the mark of a company how they deal with this and the strategy seems simple, they default to using a guy who they know full well has been rude, intransigent and pisses far too many people off...and so why keep him?
Any self-respecting business people would have told him to fcuken hoffen years ago, if they are scared to do it, I'll facking tell him.

The reason they persist is two fold, they feel they can't get anybody else to do the logistical side of his job and secondly, they are insulated because he tends to keep certain problems at arm's length..he is their thick skin.

Problem is...this is achieved at a cost, and that cost is the way the customers are treated, and at the moment, the Millennium board feel this is a cost worth paying.
This is the bottom line Jon .....make no mistake about that !
Wow, this guy Ulrich sounds a lot like Shawn Walker. Thank God we (U.S./NPPL) don't have this particular problem anymore, and hopefully we don't assume another one. Good luck to you guys over there. I hope these forum discussions don't get left in here and your all able to take these good ideas make your league work again the way it was meant to.

Paintball in general, whether US or Euro, seems to have taken a path we are having serious trouble navigating. I hope we find our way soon. Good luck guys, and good thread. Enjoying reading it.

Great post Freddie, and of course some valued contributions from a lot of others.
As for people wishing the Millennium guys read this; trust me, they know what's being said here, their well worn strategy seems to have been waiting until it all blows over because they know, for the most part, you are all still gonna turn up come the next event.
After all, that's what effective monopolies are able to do .....

They put their gloves up, tuck their elbows in, cover their chin, take the shots and wait for the bell to go for the next round of the Millennium ... so far so good.

That's a great strategy until someone unexpected jumps in the ring and knocks them out ....

I think a machiavelli quote is well suited to this situation:

"He who blinded by ambition, raises himself to a position whence he cannot mount higher, must thereafter fall with the greatest loss"

I don't know the millenium or their organisers by any means, and neither have I played the millenium series, but alot of my family are in banking and the property industry, and I've heard many a story of a moment of weakness/greed (or many moments of ignorance) bringing about the sharp demise of so called successful individuals and companies over the years.....;)

Why is is that, despite so many rumours of other parties setting up some competition, which I think we all agree is the only way much of this is ever likely to be resolved, nothing has ever come of it? How many people have looked at the prospect and decided against it, and why?

To my knowledge, two sets of people have looked into it, one group considered it as a knee-jerk to something that happened and the other as a serious business venture.

To say either group has 100% decided against it is probably premature because in reality, there is a lot of money to be made here (either in profits declared or salaries drawn :) ) and opportunities like that are rarely passed over for long.

Well thank you Pete ! ;)

Have a few more pointers by the way - someone mentioned scoreboards.... Millenniums´ scoreboards are WAY better than those of PSP/NXL !!!! I only personally played 2 xball matches at Cup, BUT in that short time the scoreboards went nuts literally like 50 times NO JOKES (penalties repeatedly being reset due to the scoreboard turning off for instance hmmm!)! And when watching the NXL, well half the time you had no idea what the score was let alone the time - half the lights were out !

And to the one that asked why we don´t just boycut Millennium: In all fairness what we all want is just a well run, stabile, worth-the-money league in Europe that attracts a LOT of teams ! Personally I keep on going to the Mills because I in some sense like it, it is the biggest league in Europe right now - I mention all these things I would like to see changed, simply because that would make this series PERFECT in my eyes ! I hope and think most people write pointers in this thread because they actually want this series to become the best there is, not just to have a down at them - some people might misunderstand ?

Oh well - I´m in dream leand perhaps hehe ! :)
