When we played CC this year Bowen jumped the start of the game, tried to rectify it (thereby not gaining any advantage) but was pulled out. No real arguments but it transpires that he then calls the judge a pr#ck. All well and good, they have a word with him call for Ulrich and ask Bow for his ID. He's lost it (no surprise there) so as captain I give them mine as security. Ulrich says that if Bows doesnt appear then they are going to ban Bow and me for the rest of the season. Not much of a threat for two players playing a one off and in the last game of the finals!

I can imagine how that conversation might have gone if Robo had been involved - very brief?

Just imagine, back in the day, a tense NWC or Shockwave v Preds game and the refs started that nonsense. They were afraid to pull you guys for goggle shots, let alone a clipped pot!

..and that's the whole point Pipes, life has this unerring habit of parking its ass in that grey area and if von klinkerhoffen hasn't got the intelligence to recognize that factor or more to the point create a contingency to deal with it, then he really needs to get another job or be sacked.

Every single one of us here can see that the contingency should be, if a ref sees a player clipped and said player plays no part in the game apart from reaching his bunker, he should be eliminated but NOT 1 for 1'd ....

Now any man who advocates different from this is an imbecile and does not deserve to adjudicate the millennium paying customer, you guys deserve more than that obnoxious dollop of intransigence masquerading as a human being.

Barry and I had this same conversation in Paris, over a pint obviously, and he agreed that it does need to be addressed and looked at. Now Mark and I are both talking about the M5 that these things happened. I think the M5 must be a lot easier when it comes to reffing as these are the players they want to attract and have them come back and work their way up the ranks. Then when it comes to the CPL they should be tougher as the players should know better, however I still think there is the grey area/ Ref using his brain. If they get this right then I can for sure see players being happier. It is not easy to get this part 100% right as you are dealing with so many people, but if the head ref sets the example/ rule then therein lies the problem!
