SHOCK HORROR ANNOUNCEMENT:

Manchester United didn't beat Arsenal (the footy team, not the paintball team) last year and bought Wayne Rooney.

How dare they bring in a better player to try and boost their chances of winning things.

FFS What's the problem? We want to be a sport, but then when teams use different players to increase their chances of getting a result they get flamed all over the place?

This seems a little odd to me - Nexus should be representing their own sponsors, no matter who is on the team - anyone know how DYE/Planet et al. feel about their deals with Nexus not being kept for this tourney? Or did they accept that the couple of days of not being represented at this tourney was a small price to pay for being represented at the top level next year?

So many questions.

Still, I'm chuffed to see so many Euro teams make the cut for next year. Congrats to ALL who made it. However they got there ;)

Flash, how many times do i have to point out that this aint football? Imagine the size of the barrel if it was!

I'm not a Nexus hater or whatever the f**k you want to call me, i simply have an opinion. Nexus, Tigers and Shockwave are seen to be the best teams in the UK. We are all impressed with the way that they play and learn a lot from them. When they go abroad we are also all proud of them, rightly so. However, Nexus the name did come third and Shock and Tigers did qualify Pro next year. But if they are fielding teams where the overwhelming majority of players are not actually part of the team then what are we really proud of. It wasnt Brit ballers that got them there. It wasnt the players we normaly associate with the teams that got them there. They fielded players that were not part of their squad because they felt that the squad was not strong enough to take it to the yanks and get the places they needed. This is a real shame and shows that the Brits might not be ready to compete against the yanks at the highest level every tournament.

It may not be against the rules and the teams certainly did what they needed to do. But unless things change fundamentally (i think they are) then we are merely masking and disquising the truth. In my opinion, i would be pissed if i was on a team (american or not) that missed a pro spot because a team of ringers got in there instead. The team that earned the spot in SD is not the one that will take advantage of it next year and i think this is wrong.

When an all Brit team qualifies for pro on their own merits and not because they had to bring better players in, that will be the day that i am proud of what british paitballers can achieve.

First of all, I don't want to take away anything from the team Nexus and its players and wish them good luck for NPPL '05.

But I think I'll open a can of worms here as I find using other or better team's players in your team to qualify quite unfair. Yes, somehow rules didn't prevent teams transferring other team players into their roster, but what will happen next year? Will these teams play NPPL with the 5-6 imported players as they did in this tournament? If these 8 legion players will not be Nexus players in 2005 then I find it very unethical and not fair to the teams who couldn't qualify. But again if the rules say so, then nothing much to talk abot ethics. I just hope they correct this weird rule for the next year and hope Nexus and any other such team play above their average and deserve to be in that Pro bracket.

Come on guys - if any one of you ran a team like Nexus - a high profile European team - you would take advantage of the offer of using some of the Russians to ensure you qualify as Pro next season !!! That is all they are guilty of - ensuring that there is a good representation of European ballers in the NPPL Pro bracket in 2005.

The rules allow players to guest for teams and this allows a well run team to field the strongest squad they can to get the job done.

I would just like to add another ingredient into this boiling pot of hate.
Why is nobody moaning about the scratch team that won the event! Surely a team made up of NXL players is unfair, why they not only took the 20K prize they also knocked every one else down a rung on the ladder!

Had a think? your right its not unfair and neither is fielding the strongest players that you can, to get the job done.

Now that the dust has settled there will be teams in the U.S camp who will be wishing that they had taken a similar tactical decision (because that is what it is) And they now realise that maybe they should have come across to Europe for the "Easier points"
I can not understand Individuals who take the moral high ground on these boards when the situation does not even effect them.

As I see it, the Nexus team owners did what needed to be done within the frame work of the rules, end of.

Peace
