Cor blimey, I wasn't expecting quite so many replies, but there ya go.
Going from the start of the thread:
Sam: I don't suppose you know the name of the team you played at lunchtime do you?
Paul: I was wearing a playing top on Saturday, so yeah, in general, it's a top I expect to get paint on. I do also expect the paint to wash out, however, like all the paint that's gone before. I paid enough money for that top in a particular colour and pattern/style - so I look like the rest of my team. Now I have a (albeit very very slightly) different patterned top to that of the rest of the team. Heck, if I'd been playing and take three or four hits, I'd have had a "sup'air cammo" pattern top.
I'd say maybe to make it more spectator friendly there should be an "exclusion zone" for X-amount of distance from the fence - but then it's safer slightly closer to the fence (away from all those balls that come looping over the top
)
I have to admit, I did "sex-up" (to use the governmetns terms
) the thread title a little, I know that pink paint won't be banned, as pink is a nice bright colour, and it's easy to see when it bursts. I had a large blob of another pink paint on my top and white t-shirt (from wiping a hit off my car) and that paint washed out perfectly straight away. I have a feeling (from recognising the consistency of the fill) that the one that washed out was pink marbellizer, but I can't be 110% on that
.
As for what to do in the big picture of things - maybe the tourney organisers in the UK could put together an open letter to all paint companies, asking them to ensure that their paint is non-staining, and to not supply staining paints?
