Paul, I think you have sailed straight past the point. Flash was spectating and got spray on him. This is all well and good, but you would expect the spray to wash out. It did'nt and that is the point of this thread.

With the emphasis shifting towards making this sport more spectator friendly, staining paint has been over looked. I agree that the paint needs to be changed. Could you imigine at Huntington Beach, huge signs informing the 100,000 or so spectators over the few days the event was running, to wear "Dark or old clothes"? I think not!

the problem..

Shuck has answered part of the reason it is a problem Paul,

Toulouse 2001, Diablo Imperial was THE paint to shoot, but it stained everything, facilities, cheerleader costumes, the list went on. Laurent was left with a huge clean up bill, and very nearly lost the venue. Diablo did the right thing and stopped the paint.

But in the last 6 months, it has been noticed that there is a pink fill out there leaving a residue stain. Unless anyone comes 'clean' and pulls their paint, all pink fills will be subject to some limitation/ban in the near future.

Imagine the cost of repainting the venue you have hired for a great tournament, and where that cost would ultimately end up. Our Pockets

If anyone does know, can they please e-mail me with info, it will be treated confidentially as sponsers can be touchy! Genuine reason for wanting to know.

Nope not sailed past it at all I made the statement that if I'm spectating I wear either dark or clothes I'm not bothered about.
Were there any problems at Huntington? none that I've heard off!
I agree paint should wash out but unfortunatley not all of it does, and not just pink either.

Thats exactly the point I am making. If YOU are spectating (being a baller) you know about the odd occasional spray that you could get from watching. First time spectators could be put off from this, and its not the image we want to portray.

One way of dealing with this is to move the spectators back, or have them set up in a higher position than the field, like the excellent setup in Huntington Beach. The problem with this solution is that spectators will not be able to get a good view of the action if positioned further back from the field. Also, smaller tourneys would not be able to justify the extra expense to erect seating above the level of the field. A less complicated and more practical solution is to stop using the staining paint until the company responsible has rectified the problem. I know which I would chose :)

Does anybody actually know which paint is doing this? I have used myself and we have used on many occassion at the site I marshall wdp victory pink paint and never had a problem with staining. If nobody knows which it is then surely someone like pgi (hint hint ;) ) can do a test with all the different makes and colours of paint and publicise the results.

Just my 2p.

I have no idea which paint it is, and am not hinting towards any one company in particular. Getting a magazine to test the paint, then name and shame them is not really a good idea. Would'nt that be like biting the hand that feeds you?

It could just be sporadic batches of many types of paint, which will make it hard to find a specific company. I however feel it is one of two types of paint, but have no idea which ones.

Hopefully the teams using the paint notice that it stains, or gets told by other teams in a friendly way. They can then pass on the info to the paint company and it will be sorted in-house. I know this is dreamt up in wonderland and it will never happen like this, but I can pretend it will happen...................can't I? :(

i have three shirts that are now stained with pink paint, thanks to a staining pink paint shot at the last M25
My wife has stain treated these shirts, and washed them three times and the stains won't shift.

If anyone gets caught shooting that **** at the next M25 i expect Sparklie to Ban them on the spot.

If you are a paint supplier, and you know your paint stains, stop supplying it to your teams.
And don't try to tell me your paint dosn't stain, because i have £60 worth of shirts that have pink stains on them from your staining paint.

Sort it out!
