Yep, that's my little Aidan-monster..... awww, he's so cute with his little Warped-dana.:D

Subterfuge sort of brought up something, if we're needing to wear helmets, then we'll probably have to get rid of our flimsy Flex7 mouthpeices too. I've had plenty more paintballs fly in and cut my lip open than bounce off.

Mmmm, Vents.

Actually, I've never worn the goggles (started playing too late for that) but I do appreciate the straps. 2 of my 3 sets of JT's have vents straps on em - soo much easier to put goggles on when being a speccy fool like myself!

As for the subject of head protection, such as hats etc, fine, but will the Millenium Series be paying compensation to all those ballers in Portugal and Toulouse who pass out due to overheating?

As for loosing the flexi faceplates? nah, I like the ability to fold 'em up when not playing - helps keep hot breath out the lenses. And as for taking paint in the mouth? I copped one at Campaign, and the only problem I had was that I was mid shout at the time. Painted tonsils isn't pleasant

Possibly the only thing which should be made mandatory is some form of neck protection, but only if the tourney organisers enforcing that rule provide some heavily discounted ones, such as almost free (and as tourney organisers don't make enough money for that....)

If you hate them hitting your mouth just tie some string around the two screws, then thread it through the bottom row of holes(in then out). Then tighten the string, it stills bouces shots, still folds up but stops it rolling up and giving your lip a beating. :D

yep agree with the temp thing, but russ is a uk super marshal, he probably was asking the uk guys not the american freinds, but either way, ive been point blanked side of the head, bear skin and a lump you could hang the coat off, nether the less, i still only wear a sweat band myself, guess the 3 million brain cells killed by the point blanking was the sensible side of my brain, but each to their own, dunno about wearing a cycle crash hat, you would look a complete tosser, but f**kin funny is that.:D

I think if you tried a dive at full speed on astro turf filled with sand, you might start to appreciate the need for elbow pads !
Been there, done that.

ALSO done slides on gravel, rocks, hardpack.... No new news here. I'mjust saying that elbow pads that cover damn near the whole forearm ceases to be a mere "elbow pad".

#1 Oh, good point.
#2 LOL, Excellent description.
#3 Yeah man, I only still wear the bandana, if anything. (unless it's chilly:( )
#4 There's an indoor field nearby that's actually underground, and as part of their safety thing, you have to wear a plastic 'bumpcap'. It's basically a flimsy construction-worker's hat, and it's just uncomfortable as hell, not to mention it's near impossible to get you goggles adjusted properly with the dang things on. It's in case of falling rocks... yeah, VERY comforting. Oh, and VERY cool looking.;)

Right ok guys the reason i started the debate was to get peoples opinion on some sort of head/skull protection.

Robbo is quite correct when he stated that players never used to have ear protection and its not long ago when you could play any tournament with just eye goggles.

However the game has without doubt changed and we have moved out of the woods to being up close on sup air fields not in it self a bad thing but we must also look at what else as changed.

Players get mugged all the time and now you can get shot at 300fps from less than 1mtr and in to your skull !!!.

At campaign we had to take 3 players off our field alone feeling sick and dizzy after they had taken heads shots 2 of them had only been shot once.

Now i do not suggest we all start putting on bike helmets but something that can reduce the impact force into YOUR head and let you still keep cool.

And we all know you can get some very hard paint out there from all the brands, So if you want to stop a paintball as hard as nails with an impact speed of more than 200mph and maybe 3 or 4 following -.

I hope you all get the point i am trying to get across

The only time head shots normally cause a problem is when being mugged in the back of the skull. When a player is in a situation he can do this then he can just as easily shoot in the back or the pots. Surely the solution would be change the rules to prevent this unsporting behaviour rather than enforce players to wear protection that can cause them to overheat or their goggles to steam up. If players were 1 for 1nd ever time they delibritalely nailed someone in the back of the head then it would soon stop.

Nice Idea, But imagine trying to enforce it? You'd get players getting pulled because the guy they mugged was laying down "the wrong way"

Whatever happened to the padded Ambush hoods renegade used to make? They were great for stopping terminal brain damage! :)
