interesting article

kidzero

ladies love kewl kid
1st: i heard lasoya put the guy to sleep with 5 balls, sounds meaningless when you hear it first but 5 balls with a damn quick finger is okay within a mugging(also i dont think its neccessary or "nice", one two, to the pack will do it also most times)

2nd: this salm story is crazy. this guy should never play again anywhere in the world!

3rd: people who get too much hype often act ****ty

4th: but with no personal hype for "superstarplayers" there is no hope for paintball getting to the public big times

5th: what about a punishment for people who put things like: fool put into hospital by a timmie? thats what offended me most in this article. people who do this should get shot with a timmie on close range too!

6th: maybe, on close fields they should turn down the FPS allowed, like down to 260 fps. i dont know if it helps much but maybe it will.

7th: why are there still boards available that allow players to put guns on burst or full-auto mode? this should be banned! i have seen guys shooting a bushmaster in full- and burst mode on a rec-ball field, playing against first-timers. it really gives the sport a bad image(like, in my opinion the whole freaking rec-ball-camo-sucker-scene does anyway).

8th: the industrie should be interested in a growth of the sport and should stop selling stuff that could put a bad name on it(like markers that look like real guns, camo-**** and boards that make your marker fire like a real full-auto gun and stuff). if they wont sell it, people wont buy it. big games and scenario games (as bullsh*t as they are) could still be there without it. i know that the rec-ball(free-time rambo) scene is making the most money for the industry but for real, as long as this shi* exists most people would put you down with: oh, you are one of this wargamers, right? when you tell them you play paintball.

9th top-level pro players should really be aware of their status anfd beeing the badass of the sport might be as cool as it is BUT there is no need for overacting violence at all.

10th: do we really want this: people say that being shot into koma is part of the game?NO!

11th: would be banning lasoya from the game for not behaving the right manor at all, be the same as banning robbie williams vidoes, cause he gets naked in them?

just some brainstorming..what do you say?

At the end of the day its down to the player/s & to some extent teams to be responsible for there own actions & that the players that have this over the top aggression/stupidity (this is certainly not the 1st time Lasoya or some other pros/players for that matter has done something like this in a questionable action) need to change that behaviour or this problem will be made so difficult for them(by people spreading the word that a certain player is as it could be put unstable or unsafe) that they will totally lose it & do some truly unrepairable damage not just to he sport but to a human being.

Not long until rigid head covers become mandatory, along with neck, groin and chest protectors, sod it, let's just take to the field in full plate mail, that way we'll be safe from over-shooting.

I'd consider anything like seven shots in the head as assault, and I think that by the fifth someone would have a freak insertion they didn't want.

I've only been on the recieving end of dangerous play once, last year I was tucked in low behind an air ball "castle" (four corner cubes connected by low "walls") causing headaches for the other team as I crawled from one side to the other..... they decided to shift me by sending a player over the top. he ran the length of the field (getting hit in the process) but continued his run..and dived over the bunker on top of me, I spotted him at the last minute, and caught him with my feet (leaving him winded but alive) If I'd been a fraction slower, he'd have landed on top of my raised shocker with 18" barrel. I laughed at the time, but got increasingly angry later as I thought about how stupid, deliberate and dangerous it was. If I'd been smaller or looking the other way, I'd have been badly hurt.
Things like this SHOULD be treated more seriously, losing a player for one game (or even a tournament) is not adequate for an action that could crippple a player for life.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lawsuit over this. I'm sure that the guy could make a personal injury claim against Chris LaSoya for putting him in the hospital.

A personal law suit against the offending player would certainly knock the industry bad boys down a notch. I believe that this is only a matter of time before someone actually does launch a suit against another player for an injury of this type.

But, the difference between Lasoya, and Salm, is Salm never actually hurt anybody, he only cheated.
Chris, actually breached the line of safety, which I feel is much more important than the rules.
Safety is everybody's issue, and should be dealt with harshly. A year long ban for cheating is fair, and a life time ban for putting someone in the hospital due to over aggressive play is also fair.

I've also heard a lot of people say that Chris Lasoya's angel used to have two settings, although I've never seen this myself, but to nail someone 12 times in a mugging indicates that he may have had some sort of trigger assist. By his own admission (according to this article) he pulled the trigger 6 or so times, but shot 12 balls. This means to me that he must have some sort of assist on his trigger.

Chris is an influential player, he's worth a lot of money because other players want to emulate him. But with all that fame comes responsibility. What we don't want is a nation of kids growing up wanting to play like Lasoya, also being irresponsible, and unsafe.

I watched this incident at the MSTS Finals happen. It is unfortunate, and Lasoya is not the most likeable person in paintball, but I think it was a freak accident. Of course, it is argueable that Chris pushes the boundries of what's acceptable, making stuff like this more likely. I always put a few on whoever I bunker in case the first one doesn't break. They usually shoot back, whoever shot who first. It looked like Chris was trying to blind him by covering his mask so he couldn't shoot back effectively. Very un-neighborly, but Lasoya is not Mr. Congeniality on a paintball field.

I don't think any of the Am Yarddogs are in high school, though there are a lot of very young players on this circuit.

There were a few slumming pros at this tournament, although technically Rocky Knuth was still an am. Salm got pulled off the team he was rostered on because Lasoya was already on the team (2 pros on an am 5-man team- KORE beat 'em in the pre-lims anyway).

Paul "Baca Loco" Richards wrote an article in PGI about sandbagging and ringers and all the usual gripes. He could have been describing this event. It was the best venue Colorado has ever seen, and it was run rather well by Mike Lynch, but there was a lot of star power. I don't mind the competition, it's just sad to have celebrities come to town, win the prizes, and be dicks to anyone foolish enough to cross paths with them. In fairness, they were treated with coldness and suspiscion, and in Salm's case, aggressive disrespect. It increased the tension and hostility index, though.

Someone took a swing at Lasoya (different game), but missed, and fell down. Chris just walked away. It would've been funny, if it weren't a sincere attempt at assault.

Pur-leease Mr Merkin

>>>I've also heard a lot of people say that Chris Lasoya's angel used to have two settings, although I've never seen this myself, but to nail someone 12 times in a mugging indicates that he may have had some sort of trigger assist.

Pur-leease. We have heard that almost every top player using every top gun has a cheat or an assist - GZ's Timmys, Legions Angels, Shocks guns...if we listened to all the **** we're told you'd think every single Pro ever was running fully auto at 400fps.

And given that everyone and their dog can shoot 15BPS - at least that's what they claim - what's so hard to believe that in tha heat of tha moment Lasoya sprayed the guy more than he meant to through adrenalin? Hell, I know I've put 7 or 8 balls on someone when mugging em cos maybe they've been in a slightly different position to where I thought they were and tha shock made me spray a lil more than I meant to...

Plus Gyro just said 'someone took a swing at Lasoya' - now to me, that is a waaaaaaaay more serious incident and if we're talking lawsuits, look no further.
