I gotta say, Missy has always been straight with me, I have also got a lot of respect for him.
As much as I like a good conspiracy I was only referring to what I think the real nature of the relationship between the teams and the league is after all the empty talk is swept away.

I don't disagree with you about Missy in the slightest but when I reference "Missy" it's always in the context of the forum and in that capacity Missy does an adequate ;) job of holding up her end (as it were:) ) and focusing on the positive.

On the other hand - anything less might strike those 3 teams as "unfair".

Why the h... should they all get 1 place points? See.. somebody`s upset already;)

Maybe a solution could be to give those three teams a dispension to not play the first MS tournament in Marseille, but they will not get any points for this one.

And make the 4 best tournaments out of 5 count in the overall title!

In that way they are still in the run for the overall title, and are not pushed out of any league!

And this is my opinion, not the team.

Who the fcuk said anyone was gonna give us first place points?

Take a chill pill you two !

My recommendation, for what it's worth would be that the other scores from the attendence at the remaining events would be averaged out and then that score be used as an allocation for the first event.
That seems about the fairest thing to do in the circumstances.

I can't really see anybody geting too pissed off with that idea and it does seem to be a sensible and fair compromise.
I think the Millennium guys will choose a common sense road on this one and not want to piss too many people off.

SP, DYE, NPS, WDP pay money to teams to play in events...

SP, DYE, NPS WDP pay money to have Booths

SP, DYE, NPS WDP pay money to promote themselves, the teams, the events

Ironically SP, DYE, NPS WDP are often paying money to themselves.

Now, i broke that down real simple, but the money swirl is undeniable.
And now, the two principles that the NPPL was based on, TEAM input and ownership of the league AND the ability to go play better teams and yet break into your own divisional finals are both GONE.

If it was 'by the teams, for the teams' I would imagine they would have been more concerned making sure the dates didnt conflict.

The money swirl, in a cash strapped era, is causing major problems. And PSP expands. wtf

Even with prizes such as they are, you could atleast guage where you stood when you had to play across the divisions. Now you could be king of the div3 only to be crushed the following year when you move up. Getting crushed makes sponsorship hard to get. What happed to the old ways of earning some respect by playing a heavily sponsored team well, or getting sponsored to roll over for a factory team in need of a win.

Seriously though, these sponsorship deals are very warped.

Teams should want and try to play in as many events as possible, more chances to win. Winning = fame.

But can teams, like XSV or nexxus turn Fame in to cash? NO. Because they depend on one of hte few companies that has to sponsor 1/6th of the teams, which is a HUGE cash drain. Whose fault is it? The teams.

If dynasty, xsv, nexxus MADE their OWN gun, JERSEY, etc and Sold it, they could pay themselves, and their bills. But instead they look for handouts, skim 50-100 bucks for private label guns. And are basically forced to market themselves despite it all, due to most of the pb companies not even having a marketing dept (hint, marketing isnt the same as an Art dept)

The old sponsorship got you this far, but your sponsors are in it for their pocket books, not yours.

How many millionaires has skateboarding made? 1000s

How many millionaires has pb made... 100? and we throw way more money around. But there are a handful of guys who are VERY wealthy.

There are some smart guys on p8ntballer. If they are going to make f'd up rules, then atleast bend them to gain every advantage you can, with long term goals in mind. Planning is something they obviously struggle with.

In the meantime, you have to answer what PRO paintball means to you, what it should mean, and what you are going to do about it.

I am not saying run out and make a new league yet. BUT the owners of the PB companies do NOT loose sleep about your teams financial well being.
In fact, in their canabalistic, more for me way, they would like independents to fold, cough up the top two guys to their plush factory team, and move on.

Kids have proven they will buy private label stuff, infact, the more rare, the better. Its alot like tony hawk skate boards... and then tony said, hmm, i am getting this little cut, which is nice... but if i got off my ass and made boards, i could make more. Same thing in music, artist often dont make big money until they start producing other artist. (research bon jovi a bit).

Dont whine. plan and execute. These guys aren't anything more than human and we all bitch about the mistakes they make. Start your plotting. Just remember.. when you start funding your team, and if you horde the cash, some kid may just break off and do the same thing to you.

Not sure what to tell you about MIL, that situation gives me a headache. The US leagues will make you 10x more famous. and even if you dont speak english, the lil kids will buy your stuff if you win here. when they buy 'your' stuff who makes the profit is the question?

.....pretty much agree with most of that Aaron, it's a sobering journey thru contemporary paintball but after enlightenment, I would have liked to see a broader brush used in terms of advisement.

And yes I can change your sig, what's wrong with this one or 'Chicago'?
PM me to advise.

I've been trying to figure out who this Aaron person is. Good to know.

I can see the source of the confusion, as he appears to be a pretty smart guy.

LOL i am not, nor ever have been chicago. I actually always thought Chicago was John Dresser, but I was wrong about that.

I can just make a new one i guess, but the evil name just brings up feelings better left in the past.

I ranted due to 'we' believe we can help some guys take the next step. And all the years you and I have talked on the net, you know my love for the powers that be... and these recent developments really burn my ass.

Too true and one of my favored topics. Will soon be making a re-appearance in a View called 'Paintball Held Hostage.'
Also a two-parter upcoming on sponsorship dollars, Pro teams and what happens to the money. (So you see, if you haven't yet subscribed to PGi, get with the program. End blatant plug. :) )

Actually I'm suprised at how poorly most teams go about securing their present much less their futures and how willing everyone seems to play the game by somebody else's rules. 'Course, one man's sponsorship is another man's crank habit.
