Back to the serious bit. Ices I think you need to be a little more careful about your insinuations when you obviously don't know as much as you are talking about.

Accusations of corruption, wether stated or implied, are not a good thing without evidence, and Robbo in this case is somewhat biased due to his like of the RL and dislike of certain promoters. The promoters I know of be involved in this (and the millennium series) certainly do not have Low IQ's.

BTW Sergei who owns/captains RL is vice president of a Russian Bank... so yes I expect he has a 'spare million' if required

Repete, as pointed out these accusations started a long time ago. In fact there have always been silly comments directed at them since they started coming over to play in the UK and Europe. It used to be because of the language barrier but lately it has been because they are just damn good. Some of the issues that have been raised have substance but much of it is just sour grapes. They are the best team in Europe and that makes many jealous.

I think it's great that the RL video tape their opposition and work out ways to beat them. That's a sign they are taking it seriously and treating paintball as a sport! I don't think they should be stopped from videoing... but I do think we should have my GF stand next to their camera guy and get the scoop on their tactics and comments...

I think I would much prefer to be described as biased toward all that is just and honourable in paintball, the fact that I dislike this promoter is because of what he has done and said with regard to the RL (and a few other things besides).
And what this promoter has said about the RL is a downright lie, he has no proof, never has had, never will have and it is on this basis I do not like him and my posts are the way they are not because of my dislike for the promoter but because what he says is wrong !!!!!
And he continues to this day to slander them !!!!!!!!!

The fact that I am a staunch advocate for the RL is because they embody all that is fair and professional in paintball and the fact that some people do not hold them in the same regard says more about them, than my advocacy of the RL, does about me.
And actually Sergei is the president of the bank
And yeah, he's worth a few bob or two.

I was just wondering when we'll see an article in PGI on RL and what makes them stand out from the crowd. I for one would like the various rumours about them (they train 8 days a week, every member is made up of body parts from Spetznatz Killer Death Commandoes lost in Afghanistan, etc etc) either proved or dispelled once and for all.

They seem to be the holy grail for most of us european tourney ballers ie a team good enough to spank the yanks, and no cheating to boot.

So I'd definately like to see an in depth article covering their history, background and team values etc.

It's quite amusing really that several of the security people at Sergei's bank have to put down their Kalashnikovs and pick up their IR3's when they play paintball.
Hope they never forget if I have to play against them but I ain't that bothered if they do happen to forget against some of the Yanks

I loved Russia but found the banks to be very scary experiences. Although I only saw the plebs end of it when changing money... I'm sure it looks much nicer from Sergei's side!

Easy solution the whole mess...

Eventhough there is nothing that can really be done - officailly - against some idiotic organizers, here is what I suggest.

At the next Millennium tournament if there is a ban on the russians filming their games, I think that every concerned fellow european player should offer to videotape 1 game for them, this should cut the crap out in one easy step.

But wait, I know the next problem people will have with them. No matter who is filming, the picture is automatically transmitted to a heads-up-display in each players mask, thereby allowing them to see the whole field from a birds-eye view.

Gotta love the old Soviet technology that is finally being put to some good.

Was the RL Coach On-Field or Off-Field while taping the games?

If the guy was On-Field, would it not just be a matter of him taping the games from the Spectators side? That way if he was asked to stop they would need to ask the numerous other camera users to stop as well.

(Apologies, I may be stating the obvious above)

I know that this dosen't solve the problem of the RL being once again targeted with 'strange' accusations and the game would be more difficult to cover but it may highlight the idiotic thinking involved in the original request.

If the Coach was Off-Field, were any of the other camera users asked to stop?
