Just wait, the Home Office will get around to it eventually unless of course Brussels beats them to it.

But no one has yet to answer my original question. The best we got so far is that it's okay to bring the ringers in on higher level teams but then the question becomes are they really helping already good teams?
And while Ant's view is obviously the progressive opinion it isn't the view that has, in the past, been routinely expressed in these very forums about similar deeds. Is the problem that everybody is afraid of offending Ledz and Planet? If nobody is prepared to express an opinion here all I can say is I will delete threads in the future that start by whining about who won whatever division at whatever event 'cus they unfairly used some other players who aren't on their regular rosters.
Perhaps a more popular thread would be asking what y'alls dress size is.

If it was the end of the season you might well come to that conclusion but in early Jan !!

The big problem is where do Skidder, Al and Latham put themselves in the UK scene? They were Pro's last year but this year they don't have a team and don't want to commit to just one team so what do they do? I have spoken to them about this problem since last year and the bottom line was they want to play in the UK coz they have friends here. We have also talked on several occasions about the lack of skill that a lot of teams display and we all felt that Al, Latham and Skidder could help these teams/players out.

As for answering your question. I've read it and it's your opinion. What do you want people to say?

Does it encourage sandbagging? Would it be better for those 3 players to play for one team at each series (PA, Series 2005, Midland Masters, SWL, Dartford 7's Etc) and lets say they are that good they dominate each series so everyone is fighting for 2nd spot from day one? I'm not saying they are that good or that will happen but is that a better solution? They are playing (so far) in the highest possible division they could at each event so as far as I can see that's fine.

As for Planet sponsoring them. I’ve known the lads since they bought their first Spyders. Skidder work for Planet so I wanted to help them out. Yes, it’s a good marketing tool and it smacks of professionalism to me and we need to have people trying to be professional in their approach if we are to move forward.

Probably doesn't answer your question :(

My opinion:
I think it's great! Why? Easy, favoritism. Al, Latham and Skidder are some guys that are in my "cool" list (buying me food gets you there). Also, if you look at some of my recent postings on the subject, you'll find that I never had a big problem with things like this. If the rules allow it, do it. If you don't, you're selling yourself short.

While I agree with Baca's sentiment about the people that were vehemently protesting in the past, I would vote against deleting their posts on the subject. I would much rather point at them and laugh in public.
You don't have to agree with us here, just voice your opinion now, and back it up, for god's sake! Here's your chance to do it!

The question is...

can a pro player actually be a sandbagger if they're playing in the top division in a league where there are no rules about pro players anyway? Surely it just raises the standard of play at the event?

Come on someone, join the fight, it's getting lonely with just the three of us

Planet Piper away from you freaks!
What the hell does it matter anyway?

The GFH turn up help a team out and play a few games! Now they may not play on the same team, may spread themselves out and play for 2 different teams.

Now do 2 players really make all that much difference to be classed as sand baggers? WHat is the ddifference in what they are doing and what some teams do? Nothing except they are ther to help that team and promote certain products (yes mine included).

I like the idea of what they are doing and I say good luck to them.

:D :D

Spread the GFH word!

3 gimps i mean pimps...

I think there is absolutely f@:K all wrong with it.. The 3 of them are good players and if it means havin more quality players at uk tournaments then how can it be bad? You learn from playing with better players, its that simple. Good luck to em..:p :p

So when you have 3 universally liked "good guys" from the UK circuit do it it's all OK.

When Consellium Dei did it at Campaign a few years back they were nearly lynched.

...just a thought.

I really don't care, but i do think that a team doesn't really get anything from having a pro simply play on the day and if a team is actually serious about getting better and using this (worthwhile) service from Planet and GFH to do it - they should be like Bullets and have training the weekend before with time to really go through everything properly. I think on the actual day they will be too focused on playing to really get a lot from it past having some cool guys kicking around their safe area.
