but as i allways see, there never seems to be great commitment from many players or Teams, i have asked quite a lot of teams lately about Training and getting better to take on the rest of Europe, but to be Honest, i get the same response which is they are quite happy to just play Tournies for fun more than anything else, which is a shame but when i try and discuss the issue they say that they pay there money so they can do what they want, so i can't say much after that.
Still thats life, but like i said its a shame, i have been playing this game for 20 years next year and seen UK Teams being level with the best in the world to next to nothing, apart from a couple of Teams, and i would do anything to get us back up there but i should have learnt by now that most pf my efforts have come to nothing. I read what nick and freinds wrote in this months PGI and thought i wish more of our teams could have that commitment!!!!!

I think the pa has the highest level of competition in the UK,
though as has been said the real competition is abroad
but the pa does ask for commitment for the series. though they may be running an open division for teams that want to see what the pa offers without commiting to the whole series.

Only problem with PA is you have to start in Div 3 which would be a huge backwards step for us.
As advised above you should probably check this. Depending on teams dropping out they may seed a known quality team above promoting additional teams from the lower divsion. The promotion and relegation is meant to create a situation where teams rise to play at teams of their ability and the best few move up and down. Doesn't work if they promote too may teams.

No, not a double post but a different point to make. Not saying it is the best competition but in the context of the above post. If Div 1 of PA is the best domestic competition available should we not be prepared to accept that short term step backwards for the two steps forward it brings in the longer term.

Is the short term view of UK teams a big factor in where we go wrong? Most only think as far ahead as next months local tournie with a cup as prize. Thus small incentive to train on a regular basis because the goal is only a few weeks away.

Maybe other countries are starting with the goal of being the best over a year or god forbid achieving long term success over a 3-4 year period. If your goal if to be a winning Div 1 Millenium in 3-4 years so what if you have to take a year in a lower domestic division if it fits the big picture plan.

Depends what your long term goal is, as discussed in previous posts the effective life span of a top level paintballer is pretty short, If we want to get to that level then its debatable as to whether we can afford three years to reach a stage we are already at?, we need to develop and improve not regress.

The pro league hosts the more quality teams and if you need convincing of that, then you need to find a new sport.
Never said it wasn't and don't need convincing at all, as stated in my original post, pro league aside.

Am I right in saying we can't just turn round and say, right we're playing pro league, we have to qualify.
