I would like to say thanks to karnage and killjoy also for the massive help in the pitts Saturday and Sunday, it was greatly appreciated! As for the reffing, well I didn't have a bad call against me all weekend but from what I saw there were plenty of occasions where tougher penalties should have happened for example when players have "spun" on other players and rather than being penalised both players were pulled out. On the other hand I saw some pretty harsh penalties which seemed completely unnecessary, notably on a few shock players which I don't think was due to biased reffing, just them being unfortunate. Therefore I'm not surprised at pete's post and think this should be taken into consideration before attacking him with personal insults. So therefore I would have to agree the reffing was inconsistent. Having done it myself though, I can understand to a degree how hard it can be and know that calls cannot always be correct, however consistency is really crucial to avoid giving a team an unfair advantge/disadvantage.

I have to agree the food was cheap and pretty damn nice compared with campaigns ridiculous pricing and poor quality, the trade stands were good with everything available you might need and the scheduling I thought was logical and well organized.

Thanks for the event overall as I had a good time, pretty sore today, but I had a lot of fun.

Spectator point of view

I couldnt play this event cos we had my sons 2nd b'day on the Sat but came up to watch the team and to soak in the atmosphere of this event on the Sunday.

I have to say I'm generally impressed by the event as a whole, where having familiar trade stands and decently priced quality food with a seating area really made it a bit more 'homely', especially as I brought my son with me.

Maybe having the two fields apart would allow a better spectators view of the second field, but a walk round the back soon had me in good view of watching the games.

The only downer I would note was there seemed to be a lot random paint flying about outside of the playing areas. I was stood at LPS speaking to Chris when a paintball hit the stand. I'm familiar with the fact of the odd pball does fly around at events due to either a raised gun or bounce from a bunker and its not uncommon to see the odd hit on some cars placed near the nets, but later on my sons pram got a proper hit as well, which worried me quite a bit, and at various points we had a rain of paint from somewhere. It just seemed a bit excessive when compared to other events we had attended.

The nets seemed generally ok, so not sure why we seemed to be attracting paint. Someone suggested it could the raised ground in the playing area allowing more paint to 'leak' out over the netting?

Anyway, hope to play at this event next year and gutted I had to miss it this year.

Having a couple of kids myself, one of whom recently turned two I don't want to be taken as making light of this, but i can't resist saying, maybe you're not just a paint magnet on the field :p

On a more serious note, the atmosphere you describe seemed more like what big events (Millenniums) should have......

Jacket potatoes after 5 games on that saturday = mmmmmm:cool:
yeh man, you just know an events good when they have jackets, man that tent was like a restaurant I was spoilt for choice!!!

because I've only been to koth and NSPL evens this event was EPIC!! it was totally different from other events, it was so serous in the semis and stuff I felt like I was playing PSP WC It felt so significant so of course stuff must have been well planned to make it seem awsome, and cos it was like an event after season when everyones like "I cant be bothered its not in season anymore" there was still loads of people there and worth the trip.

also 3 teams who were really awsome where ; pheonix 5, hazard and pompi uni , who stayed and watched our games, and also when i was P!$$ed at a ref call the ref bothered to explain why he made the call, made me a bit more contented :)

But to see a team with 3 Division 1 players in the lowest group of this i was like wft?? :D

...I also like the fact our team is now known as "the guys with young people and jesus" specially because I'm one of the young ones hahaha

I really enjoyed it, having being playing at Ancater years i knew what to expect facilities wise. Really impressed with the support from the trade, and the catering facilites where some of the best I've ever seen. Resonably priced nice food, indoor chairs and tables, cheap booze. Brilliant.

Well done the FED, Wendy & Chris.

The distance from the playing fields to the LPS tent was such that the only paint would get that far would be from the snake player on field one shooting cross field thus giving the balls the elevation required

Pete from Shock is right. The reffing was terrible. no two ways. People always whine about the reffing to a degree. I know this. But when you have so many top teams, and players. Saying the same thing. We you can just sweep this under the carpet. The Ulitmate of the xball field often lost it. he had no control over what he was doing. Nick from the Nspl marshalls the div1 games. he gets whinned at some time's. But hes very good. calm, collected and never losses his temper. So why didn't we have him instead?
There is an issue here. A major one. And for the head of the Federation to say he doesn't care? How can teams at the top of Uk paintball say they want to come back and play?

As for the Southern team's being there. We'll it was hardly in the middle between the north and south. There's also a recession on.

There was a lot of good from the event. It's come along way. But the reffing was terrible, the worst i have ever seen.
