If you cannot say anything or are just having fun then please don't post things that make it sound like you know! Oh and Steve I was in Toulouse and I did see the finals and who was causing the trouble? Let me see...... Miami Effect and oh yeah Miami Effect... that well known XBALL Team :D :D

On topic!

If this is what happens when a new format arrives then to hell with it stick with 7 man, cos at least we know what the hell is going on with that!

Piper
O.K. Pipes,

You do know what the hell is going on with 7-player next year in Europe? Why don't you tell us!

Why don't you and Robbo SPELL IT OUT! Instead of beating around the bush.

Friggin' hypocrites!

Right, that's what I thought. You're just discussing, sounding out ideas, getting opinions. Sounds like what I've been TRYING TO DO.

Robbo still won't get it in his thick skull that the "filling the heads of Euro paintballers with fanciful possibilities" as he calls it was a discussion of ideas on a mostly open forum. Certainly an insult to the readership. They don't need or want mind control.

I mentioned a telephone conversation in context of a discussion and then Pete asked me for details and I gave a few of the ideas. I also talked about what we BELIEVED possible.

Do you think I am going to give you more details! I ain't gonna give **** to people hell-bent on twisting words to suit their own agendas.

My point was about not giving information was aimed at Robbo, while programs are being developed. You can count on everyone that needs to know finding out WHEN THE POLICIES HAVE BEEN DECIDED.

Until then I'll go the way of BWillie: let the few rude, contentious and disrespectful people here stew in your own juices.

Robbo, YOUR BANNED!:D :D  :p

I love 7-player, I love 10-player even more, but I certainly don't have any ridiculous illusions about either one of them being pure and noble. And I think you were in Jersey, right? If not you know what went down there.

I rest my case.

Why should me and Pipes tell anything, we are not the ones who have had this one and a half hour discussion with Laurent concerning EXL, so how can I be hypocritical, I am not the person put in charge of EXL, you are !!!!!!!!!!

An 'insult to the readership' ???
Once again, a pathetic attempt to curry favour with the people reading this thread and if it is received as an insult, then it should be by you alone, don't drag other readers into your mire just because you ain't got what you hint at.

And you ain't gonna give us any more details, yeh that's right you ain't, you know why ?
Coz u don't know sh!t, that's why.

All you had to tell was to answer some simple and respectful and wholly relevant questions that are pivotal to next year's running of the EXL, you did not answer any of them, not one.

So, since you have now referred to me as 'thick' I might care to remind you of a little phrase I once mentioned in a previous post that you may care to research.......QUOTE Then you better go and buy some mint sauce !!!

I'll leave that as my parting shot and my last laugh!

Have I been put in charge of EXL? You told me I was fired!

An 'insult to the readership' ???

Yes, because you insist on protecting readers from "fanciful ideas", kinda like the bookburners did.

Once again, a pathetic attempt to curry favour with the people reading this thread and if it is received as an insult, then it should be by you alone, don't drag other readers into your mire just because you ain't got what you hint at.

You don't know my motives, but yours are very apparent.

And you ain't gonna give us any more details, yeh that's right you ain't, you know why ?

I would have with most anyone that had not already proved themselves grossly disrespectful and defamatory. Besides I have continually made it clear that all is just discussions, ideas and speculation until decisions are made, we hope at Campaign.

Now I know it's a drag to constantly be bothered with the reading glasses that become necessary at our age, but use them for God's sake!

Here's what I wrote again:
_________________________
There are obviously a lot still to be decided but the indications I get from my conversations with Laurent and Mike Ratko is there is going to be some serious X Ball in Europe. And L believes like me that we can get Americans over here SEASON 2004 in some kind of way. When the weekly series begins (most likely Season 2005) that will not likely be possible (even though the players themselves really want to come to Europe and play as often as possible.)

Can't elaborate more because there is still a lot of issues that yet need to be addressed, but we will try our best to sort things out at a meeting or two at Campaign.
_____________________________

Notice I said "indications" notice I said "believe". I never made any guarantees.

All you had to tell was to answer some simple and respectful and wholly relevant questions that are pivotal to next year's running of the EXL, you did not answer any of them, not one.

Why don't you answer questions about the hints you've been alluding to about NPPL and Millennium "formally integrating" as you put it. Is this just your idea or is there substance to it? What do the principals involved on both sides have to say about it?
TELL US please. That is if no concrete decisions have been made yet.

So, since you have now referred to me as 'thick' I might care to remind you of a little phrase I once mentioned in a previous post that you may care to research.......QUOTE Then you better go and buy some mint sauce !!!

Thick, seemingly, concerning me, because you refuse to get that I am on here like any other jack discussing, listening, trying to learn, trying to implement good ideas however I can. Thick, because I've said umpteen times that I'm just discussing and that no definite decisions have been made. I don't really think you're thick about most things; just about those things that you get on the warpath about.

I'll go ahead and display my ignorance and ask what that phrase about mint sauce means. Must be pecularly British.

Andy,

This is where I really screwed up. I insulted YOU in my knee-jerk reactiion to Robbo and I admit that was wrong. I can't find that you've been hinting around at future developments of 7-player and it's not on topic anyway.

I know it may not help but I apologize for what I wrote concerning you. I'll be accused of trying to curry favor, etc, etc. but I was wrong. Sorry.

I don't think I have been telling anyone that it is my baby. This baby is a ******* who nevertheless needs love.

I think I have made it clear that I am as frustrated as the next guy about no decisions yet and the principals in Millennium will certainly get tired and irritated about my nagging about getting some things settled, if they aren't already.

I didn't tell a half-story. I just referred to some conversations that made it clear to me that some true decision makers have plans for Europe and X Ball and that we MIGHT find a way to get American teams over somehow. I said that I wasn't going to elaborate on it further because a) I don't want to get some ideas disrespectfully hacked to pieces and b) it is just in the idea phase now anyway.

I don't see what's so evil, malicious or stupid about that. As I've said many times before, I'm not ready to attend EXL's funeral yet. If that time comes, I'm prepared to move on to something else. But not before.

Again, I apologize for my misplaced and out-of-line remarks to you, Andy.

Steve

Too many obstacles usely equates to ease of movement from position to position which means it'll often be a dog-cat chase around in circles (slight exaggeration). I've sent it in practices with some of the best players.
I think that this is by far the most exciting part of a game to watch. I remember a game at joy2002 in the am finals 1 on 1 cat and mouse (or dog) and this was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen.

Didnt you guys say you wanted to create a format that Joe public could understand and appreciate. Well I've brought many nonpaintball friends to watch tournamentpaintball and while they allways say it looks "cool" they also allways comment that there is way too little movement. As I see it movment is key to getting games exciting.

Ah, I suck at English and cant get the wording right so I'll just quit now..

Bolle,

Your English is far better than my svenska.

It is true that we must encourage movement because moves like you describe are very breathtaking to watch, but let's not make it too easy to leapfrog.

It has got to be lagom hard to get to the key positions like snakes, ladders and zippers. The destroyer or super-harassing positions have got to be where you have to sweat a little bit for them. You've got to risk something, you've got to have a good plan and good communication, great timing, maybe even some skillz and some speed to get to the true destroyer positions.

It is all a question of balance, I believe, and it is hard to discuss with text.

I wish I knew how to get some layouts on here. Maybe someone else can put some suggested layouts for 7-player and X Ball up sose we can discuss them and cut them to pieces.

Steve

PS. Lagom is a new word in English, borrowed from Swedish. It means not-too-much, not-too little or just right or right mix.

True!

I believe that this can be accomplished with field design. I have allways advocated larger fields and more bunkers, this to give the players a few more alterantives. You can allways design the fields so that key bunkers are harder to get to.

When I said movement I didnt necessarily mean forward movement, up the field to key bunkers, but rather sideways between bunkers. I also believe that it should take a bit of an effort to advance on the field.

Stock Class. Or maybe force everyone to use 50 round hoppers or something. One thing the rate of fire has done is eliminate the "nice shot". We should have the film where some guy starts to move, and his opponent fires one shot, and it breaks on his gogs, or something like that.

Much better than the "Hey, he ran through a stream of paint."

I'm not saying aim doesn't matter, but it just isn't obvious. And less volume will also greatly reduce the "open lanes" problem without requiring more bunkers.

Although the reaction I've had from my players so far as far as stock class goes is pretty much "hahah, that was funny."
