I'm still not seeing a problem

Just cus you make a decision which makes good business sense but upsets a few people..... oh dear what a pity. What are the teams who are upset going to do? Form there own league? At the moment 7 man is where its at. Anyone who moans to much can go fund there own league..... or boycott. Anyway i'm talking about teams who be a country mile have the standard to be in that league. Teams who went all season and couldn't make it just aint good enough. Sorry but thats the truth of it.

Milhouse, how many tournaments (PSP and NPPL) have you attended this year?

The best tournament of the year was HB hands down, but after that it's not an easy call. In my eyes PSP world cup was a lot better run than the Commanders cup was. Yes, the NPPL does clean up the fields better and give out fruits but besides that there is a lot of improvment to be done. For example in my opinion marshalling was by far better at world cup than it was in San Diego.

As for playing, there is no question that X-ball is more fun to play. I counted the preliminaries for the men and the total game time they got to play in the 8 games was about 17min (not including walking the flag back). How much of paintball is that, nothing?

X-ball isn't perfect either, but saying that 7-man "7 man is where its at" is total bull ****.

And I do agree, there is a good change they will include other teams in...

I do find a problem with them doing the invite system or "well you're good enough so you can come too" system...

The problem will be now these teams have gone out of their way and played extra events which costs extra money (possibly not in the teams' budgets) and extra time trying to attain that top 17 spot when all of a sudden they're giving them away. Is this something that they could sue over? I don't know, but maybe. It's not good business sense to sue a league that you want to be apart of and end up bankrupting (i know it's way out there). So you basically shot yourself in the foot. On the other hand it's also not good business sense to upset the teams you want to represent your league to the World, the masses.

This whole gun thing has proven that the NPPL is not playing favorites, as they've been accused of, with Dynasty. That would seem to give them some credit as being independent and unbias, but then to go back on your word to the pros would/should be an ominous sign to the rest of the non-pro teams.

...and with Brass Eagle missing out and JT/BE/K2 being a very large sponsor of the league, I have a feeling they'd be one of the 1st teams to sneak in if something does go down.

Steve - you should open your eyes a little more and also think a little about what you have just posted.

Yes 3 of these teams played X all season and then were very successful in A 7 man tournament (at the end of the season).

The theory put forward was that playing AND training both formats would be detrimental to playing one or the other (or both).

What you cant take away from the equation is 4 teams rammed full of some of the classiest ballers on the planet.

I also know that Sergei was worried about his guys after a few games this weekend as they were struggling to come to terms with 'freestyle' 7 man as opposed to the regimented X style that they had trained in all season.

They put it right (fortunately).

Oh and look at the list of players in 'The Men' all but a list of old schoolers (10 man to 7 man to X ballers). These guys adapted through these formats!!

And XSV turned their backs on X a year ago as they wernt enjoying the experience. And they didnt exactly set the 7 man world alight straight away either (remember!!) and took some time to get back into it.

OK, you've got some good points and I admit that what I wrote is overstated and lacks nuance. What I should say is that playing X Ball doesn't spoil 7-man for the very best players but, in fact, gives them an edge .

And don't think that is a dig on 7-man. 7-man is a different animal that requires other, complementary skills. And obviously playing 7-man the same way one plays X Ball will usually result in failure (although I do believe in power plays for any format).

It will be interesting to hear what the players have to say themselves.

This theory is useless imho. Three out of five NPPLs were won by X-ballers. Established 7-man ballers won their share of PSP div 1/pro X-ball.

After all it's still only paintball. Field sizes are almost equally small in both X and 7-man. The coaches in X-ball can help maybe 1 or 2 players, the rest are on their own (except of the crowd participation).

There are some points in both formats that need some special training (pits, coaching in X and communications in 7-man). But that shouldn't be too hard to do for both formats and teams should be able to adapt pretty quickly.

Master the basics of the game: snap shooting, playing tight, run n' shooting, breaks, hitting what you aim etc. Do this over and over and over again and you'll do great in both formats.

The best four teams in SD had some of the best talent. But to place in top four that's exactly what you need: the best players in the world. There are no short cuts.

Whudda 'bout this:

15 maybe 17 BPS (research maybe needed here)
No full auto
No additional shots after trigger release (after 250ms; never more than one shot)

Nothin' more, nothin' less.
