my suggestion for the photos was to be used at event level, i'm not suggesting that the photos should be anything more complicated than a standard photo. All you'd need to say is when you register your team supply a photo and details of your marker, and if anything should happen then there is a record of your particular marker at that particular event. Policing of the event could be as simple as a member of staff positioned at the entrance of the players tent to saying to someone who is leaving the players tent- 'hey what team are you on? look in the folder-oh yeh theres the marker thank you for your time'

Whatever, it's a suggestion-cheap and i think goes halfway to stopping markers being lifted by light fingered tossers.

The other half is jose's method
;)

The PA has started with the security issue. They had a players area that only players, with players passes could enter. Each time a player passed they had to show the pass, or Liz wouldn't let them though .. she refused to let players through who she has known for years and seen going through all day. This helped with non-players stealing kit and non-players weren't allowed to carry kit out of the area, even if the player's kit was stood next to them!

In addition to this there were PA staff always around in the players area watching kit.

I think this is the best way forward and showed it's true colours as I didn't hear of anything theft's at the PA Cup last October .. only players moaning that they had to show their passes.

Also, it was John Wilson who wanted to start the Database of people's markers, but they was that little interest and people telling him that it wasn't worth it or telling him it was stupid it's been put on a back burner for now. I think however he is trying to start it again. PM him and ask, I don't know the details yet.

Ramble over ! :D

PA security....

Theldren, fair enought the players area was secure at the PA cup, but since the thefts at skirmish were from cars in the car park having a secure players area wouldn't have made a difference.

How about just having 2 people patrolling the car park throughout the day? Pay them the same as the marshalls and spread the cost between the teams, we're talking about less the £5 extra per team.

True, the car park is where the theft's took place, but the whole event should take security measures, and I was just saying that the PA was the first I know of to use such security .. hopefully the PA will improve of these measures (including the car park) and all other events will improve on security.

The PA Cup as far as I know didn't (could be wrong) and I do agree with the above comment of having people to watch the car park. There should be car park attendants to protect players / spectators vehicles :).
