And what is dishonest about SmartParts? That whole patent issue?
Hmmph, in any other business it is considered smart business practice to operate the way SP does. Just because it's paintball, we're supposed to be all nice and cuddly? Get real. Expect more things like this to happen as paintball grows. And not just from SP.
This I agree with. Your opinion is a lot more levelheaded than just calling them dishonest.Originally posted by DMZ Hasse
Yes, this happens in other industries as well. In my industry, SCO is sueing tons of companies claiming rights to code that is included in Linux. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean I have to like SCO, or Smart Parts for that matter. Just because money makes the world go round doesn't mean that everything that is done purely based on Huge Personal Greed(tm) is good. As a consumer from one of the richest countries in the world I choose to use my wallet as a ballot, and will tell everyone else to do the same. And I will not buy Smart Parts, ever.
O dear, by the way i hadnt seen that link until after i posted that ^^^^.Originally posted by FrontLine
Hey who said Dynasty had to like Smart Parts.
I can see maybe why dynasty has gone with smart parts.
They simply get loadsa cash and hey get to shoot a free marker, whilst being able to go to every event and win it. I'd pretty much say they have achieved everything that at team would want to achieve.
After all to a certain extent, a marker doesnt win you tournaments. Playing the best you possibly can as a TEAM does!

Good luck to them!
Well surely out of the millions of people that can understand a paintball marker. Someone along the lines must have turned a manually firing marker into a semi-automatic (electrical marker). Its not hard. Only takes one person to do it as a small project, for fun!Originally posted by NaffyNerd
There have certainly been lotsa threads about this, but does anybody know fo' sho that Smart Parts wasn't the first to develop an electo-pnuematic marker?
And if it was WDP who did it first and SP copied them, then is it immoral or unethical for SP to finally get around to patenting it just recently?
And if USPO would allow SP to patent something that could be proven to have been around before, what does that say about the fairness of the playing field in US?
Much I don't understand here. But I'm not all convinced that SP has done anything to deserve condemnation for?
I'd like to know.
