Thanks for the support and positive criticism!

I had a vision of the usual slating of the Marshalls appearing on the forums, and everyone arguing over what was/wasn't a good/bad call.

We were marshalling field 3 and yes, hand held high, there were errors made. In fact at the end of the day, during the drive home, I think we agreed there were 5 bad calls made. Now, whether everyone else agrees as to whether they were bad or not I do not know, but that is 5 bad calls out of 37 games. Like it has been said, it happens. Admittedly I would love to be able to post up stating that we had no arguments, no bad calls, and everything ran hunky dory, but we are in the real world and I don't think anyone who's ever marshalled a tournament can say that.

Anyway, cheers to all who played and thanked us at the end of the day, including those who left our field unhappy, as I think you guys still thanked us, and have only helped us along the learning curve.

See you all @ the next leg!

The only real criticism I would level at some of the marshals is failing to control the game. I believe the "physical incident" mentioned at the start of this thread refers to the Zone v Impact game on field 3. A player had been clearly eliminated and carried on to mug 2 players whilst being continually shot. He then lost his rag and threw his marker at a player and tried to charge him, only being stopped by a marshal getting in the way. Fair play to the marshal for intervening, but it was very late. The penalty for 2 counts of playing on and throwing a marker was for his team to get the flag and win the game. It wasn't the kind of call that results in one player being eliminated, it literally changed the outcome of the game. Now I know that failing to control a situation like that is down to inexperience, but the refusal to listen to the team captains argument afterwards was just compounding the initial problem. I don't doubt however that inexperienced marshals will grow in confidence as the series goes on. The only real advice that can be offered, having marshalled abit myself is take no crap from players as they will try it on and don't be scared to make a call if you think it is right.

Personally I don't care too much for the outcome of a single game in this situation - but throwing your marker? The player in question should have been banned from the series - if not more!

When will people learn how dangerous these things are!

I know for one anyone on the Love caught doing this would be out on their hindleg directly after the incident. There is no excuse.

Thanks Guys

A few Good Men who predominantly marshalled feild 3 (apart from Sam and Jamie from Method) would like to thank everyone who has come on here and said nice things about the marshalling. Overall on our field we got 1 call majorly wrong (we apologized to both teams) but other than that we were fairly happy with the job that we did. We gave it our best and hopefully you guys feel the same.

We'd like to think we'd be welcomed back at some point and no one would have a problem with this. However i think we'll be playing some of these cus overall i thought the tourney was great!

Big up to Dave, Keiran, Ralph, Liz and Dave's lads for keeping things on schedule and moving along nicely

Thanks

Ken

Having just read the above...

The physical issue mentioned above should have been left alone as both captian of zone and affected player shook hands after the event.

However to clear things up.

The impact player ran down the centre and mugged someone clean. The zone back line all saw him together and shot at him. Unfortunately he took mutliple hits (like 10 or 12) and was very upset at being over shot. He did NOT throw his gun at anyone. (it may have been placed on the ground a little forcefully but thrown is a bit much) He was NOT restrained by me (i was the marshall breaking it up) I merely placed myself between him and the player who shot him alot and steered him to the dead zone. Trust me if he'd wanted to thump someone he would have cus he was a hell of alot bigger than me. He screamed and cursed at the zone player a little but after the kind of pain he was in its to be expected. He did little more than shove me a little ( very minor)
Meanwhile the impact players (who were well up on bodies) mopped up the rest of the game.
As a marshall i was watching some of his team when he made his move. As were my colleagues. He sprang up and went for a mug which i'll admit i wasn't expecting. I raced after him to pull his arm band and one for one him if he continued to shoot after being eliminated (he did not) I do not think my reaction was late. I do not think zone were deliberatly giving him some extra love.

I believe the situation was unfortunate moment were three people all see a runner and try to eliminate him. (small field bound to happen) No one's fault.

I would quite happily marshall the two teams again as i believe no ill will is now harboured by anyone.

If anyone doubts this account then fine. But this is how it actually happened cus i was in the middle of it.

I was only watching the games but filed 2 I had soe probs with. they weren't putting they're all into it. On field 3 they were all over the place vhecking for hits etc but on 2 they walked with no real intent. On the plus side though there were some damn good calls by them.

One other prob I had was some kiddei who ripped it out of a Portsmouth uni player something chronic. He missed a good opertunity by facing the wrong way on field 1 this guy wouldn't drop it. The player said it was his first tourney and walked away and this kid followed him jeering at him. that p***ed me off badly!

Anyway, good day had otherwise, got myself an Angel!!!!

For one i think the game between Team Zone and Impact uk should be forgotten about as things like this can just bring bad feelings between two teams. For one at the end of the game all those involed i believe shook hands and apologies were said. We as a team and those that know and have played against us know we do not GIVE EXTRA LOVE to anybody, Unfortuanatley the chap in question when doing the run thorugh mugging did take mutiple hits off three zone players So i will leave you the maths 3divded by approx 10-12 hits . So please lets not go on about this as it only causes friction.

I would also like to mention something that some of us might have forgotten, half of todays problems are that our markers nowadays are far more advanced in many ways one being speed, some markers are capable of shooting what 18+ balls a second if those balls are at a constant stream in the air from one or more players and we front players run directly into them yes we will and do get hurt and yes we do lose our tempers this is just our natural instinct to pain . with more open fields with bigger zone lanes the more paint in the air, and the team that wins usaully has the biggest bank account as it seemed more paint domination rather than good old piantball skills from those snap shots to those bunker monkeys performing those spectacular muggings . I for one only ever use a hopper and maybe a pot and its always a joke in the team though sunday i was using 5 pots plus.

I may be wrong who knows .

We Team Zone like many others play on pride and honesty ,when we are eliminated we get off the field mostly before a marshall gets time to check us.

Also Good luck to Impact who are of to germany Play hard and safe boyz and do well make the severe family proud!:D
