Quoting Steve Morris

"I do recall one game when one of the refs on my field called a flag carrier out because of a mark that he thought looked like a hit and I backed him up because it DID look like a hit. The player argued and showed a mark of the same color on the prop he played but what he showed us wasn't conclusive and, besides, we can't take a player's word for something like that. And sometimes a valid mark gets smeared on a bunker instead of the reverse. The player was marked and it looked like a hit. End of story."

I agree with you here IF this was the case, but the whole point was that the flag carrier was marked with blue paint and the opposing team was shooting orange paint. You said that they might be using different colours, I then pointed out to you that the front of our bunkers where smeared in orange, not a blue mark in sight. There was two or three blue marks on the whole field and those where on OUR side of our own bunkers, probably from the previous game.

It all boils down to probability, taking into account the FACTS, you should have called the flag carrier clean.

This is what made us feel like we had been screwed.

On the other hand, at least you put in an effort in what you do, directing your reffs during the game and trying to stay on the top of things. I cant say that for all the other reffs this weekend.

TAG, we obviously disagree and I feel it would not be appropriate to continue debating the details here. I can only reinforce the general idea that if a player shows up at the end of the game with anything that resembles a valid hit we HAVE TO call it a hit unless a ref follows the player and tells us the hit is invalid. The colors players say are being shot does not exclude the possibility of a marking that we have to assume is valid (if you think about it a while you'll understand why). We can't go back through a game and look at props to try to make a convincing argument that a certain hit that looks like a valid one is in fact not. Again, if a ref on my field calls a flag-hanger out for a mark that looks like a hit then I'm going to back her/him.

thank you for your cooperation

Kids,
Please stick to the topic. I am all for a good online knock down drag out brawl but not in this thread. Take it elsewhere and go for it. Same applies to turning this thread into a referendum on Mister Morris. If you want to take a poll--ask for one--but again, this thread will stay on topic.

me now

i have to say i didnt have any trouble bringing water in with me and i was carrying 4 1.5l bottles
i didnt know anything about the ban and nobody said anything on the gate.

the marshalling on the whole i thought was ok ish,but there was a big difference from field to field,i did expect a much higher standard considering they were supposed to be trained marshals and being a high profile event(silly me).

that ton ton game was disgracefull they new there guns were hot ,therefore they were cheating, just a pity the marshals didnt have the balls to chrono them and 1 for 1 them and turn the game around as thats what cheaters deserve

all that aside i enjoyed it,even tryed to fly at one point on the mill field(did anyone get a pic ?)
cant wait for paris:D

Yes, an approach adopted by a few over the weekend!

Oddly enough for a player that refused to sign a sheet on Steve's field at the weekend, I think he is a seriously talented ultimate. We just need to clone him about 60 times and everything judging wise will be sorted!!

The water situation was a joke, unless you had hidden it in your kit bag at the hotel!

Ian :)
