Then I'll say what I want: He can't tell the difference between bunker-rub and a real hit.

Mr Trummar, I suppose I took you out for bunker rub?

I often train new refs in the difference between the appearance of bunker rub and real hits but there are sometimes (very rarely) rub resembles a hit very much (with shell and everything) and vice versa. I suppose it is theoretically possible that I pulled someone for that sometime along the line.

I do recall one game when one of the refs on my field called a flag carrier out because of a mark that he thought looked like a hit and I backed him up because it DID look like a hit. The player argued and showed a mark of the same color on the prop he played but what he showed us wasn't conclusive and, besides, we can't take a player's word for something like that. And sometimes a valid mark gets smeared on a bunker instead of the reverse. The player was marked and it looked like a hit. End of story.

If that isn't the situation referred to then I can only say I'm truly sorry if I made a mistake. I certainly try not to and if I do screw up I usually admit it (sometimes to my own detriment.)

Thanks Johan and Jay for the compliment.

I agree 100%, in his absence as a ''manager'' the reffing looks lost.
As said earlier or in a different thread i also think that the refs
need guidance to to operate as a whole.
We will see what Paris brings but we sure as hell miss Steve ;)

The reffing

The reffing was a joke! Dont get me wrong the tommahawk and dye fields where dead on but the chronic and jt fileds were dissapointing when it came to calls! We had to enforce a rule on the jt field the ref didnt even know had changed from the last season and to make it even better the field suppervisor was missing! And the Chronic field was a joke for the simple reason that when u got hit in the hopper if u went to check it instead of going stright out they would pull u for a 1 for 1 automatically! Bear in mind i wasnt playing so i had great views of all that went on! And I completly agree about the reffing on the millennium was far to slack when it came down to aggression between the teams the refs really have to tighten up on that!

But i must dissagree about the refs being to scared to go on the field i thought the did that without hesitation! And we have to realise that most of the refs out there are doing a fantasic job but there are alwasys going to be a few rotton apples!

But apart from all that the avent has improved greatly from last year and the stalls where great espically the dye one they must have had their whole product line out on display!
