that is what i was saying...for the extra 500.00 am i getting a marker that is better or just paying for the name..if a person wants to pay for the name than fine.. i personally do not care about the bling of a gun.. i want performance..i also do not care about the name on the marker.. but, to each their own..so will and not care.. i do not judge them.. but, when i shot a bushie and i also shot and played with a impulse... i then picked up a angel and played and also shot many rounds over the target range.. no differences in performance but, a big difference in price..but, still a good gun...i persoanlly would go with the impulse but, again, that is just me...

With the Angel comparrison that you're using you have to bring into mind things like the LCD screen, the build quality, milling etc which markers like the stock impy and bushy don't have (ok some bushy's have lcd screens..) but the build quality IMO deosn't feel as good as WDP's and the look of the stock Impy/Bushy doesn't really compare, again IMO to that of a stock Angel.
To bring into the equation another marker you've mentioned the Viking, (bare with me;)) it's regarded as a pure workhorse. AKA haven't exactly pumped the $$$ into getting it looking good and certainly aren't having to spend time and money on a 5 axis CNC mill all of which add to the price.
On top of all that of course you have the R&D to pay for but really that's accross the board.

In response. I would like to state that I will happily pay £1000 for a marker without air and wholeheartedly approve of paying for the name. There ya go. I do it 'cos I think it's big and clever and everyone likes shiney stuff.
Or we could all go out there with plain black markers and no milling.
Anyway, when I buy Eclipse I know I'm buying a sweet, reliable marker with excellent tech support. So far, two E-blades a shocker and a cocker and not a failure between them. I have another E-blade (aftermarket E-frame added) by another top manufacturer/modder and it was cheaper!!!!!! performancewise it's identical. But it aint as reliable.

And on the other hand....... I bought Manikes Ironman..... tuned and tinkered with by manike (even modded the bolt) and I got a massive bargain on it.......... frankly it's superb. So shop around... you might strike it lucky too.

If you're looking towards getting a closed bolt marker because they are more accurate (scientific tests have provem otherwise, but i can't be arsed arguing over it again- so don't bring it up!!), then there are really only 3 types of marker that you should be looking at top end wise

1. E-Blade/Worr Blade (same thing, but one has a notch in the trigger). The eclipse cockers are top notch. you are paying for a name and looks, but in the name you get absolutely impeccable build quality and service (best in the industry IMHO). The worr blade is similar, but not as costly and you don't get quite the same quality or service, and you are buying straight form WGP.

2. Racegun Halfblocks/Turtles. These are more rapid than a rapid thing fed with speed for 3 years. They are modded cockers with electro frames on, and are light as anything (the orracle snapper is quite possible the lightest cocker in the world!). take a look here . Buy it and get something truly unique.

3. The excalibur: made by AKA and the vivking's big brother. These are slightly bigger versions of the vikings and are closed bolt. You get top notch build quality and a very no frills aproach on the marker, so your not paying for LCD or miling or anything. PM paul collier for more details.

The only differance that I've found between open and closed bolt markers are taht closed bolt are a litle smoother in the cycling operation, generally though when rippin' there isn't alot between 'em.

The excal is actually no bigger then the viking, only a little heavier...

Bite the bullet & buy an X-mag :D As far as value for money goes, I've had cheaper markers & just not been happy with them, I've also played with dearer markers & not been happy with them. If you prefer to play with a particular marker (whatever it may be) then the cost is justified. An A4 may be one hell of a lot of money, but if you spent half the amount & weren't happy with your purchase, your money would have been wasted & there's a good chance that you'd spend more than the difference, up-grading your marker until you're happy with it :)rolleyes: ) As long as you enjoy playing with whatever you choose, whether it be 5 or 5000 dollars/pounds/yen/krona, you'll be able to justify the expense.

Unless it's a cocker (why spend all that money on technology & perfecting the workings AND THEN PUT IT ALL ON THE OUTSIDE WHERE ALL THE CRAP GETS TO IT !!!!!)

i agree

toole, i actually agree with ya.. i do not think the close bolt is more "accurate that the open bolt but, i prefer to have no "recoil" per se as i have found in the open bolt..that being said, the open can be made not to kick if the operating pressure is low enough.. i would guess you already aware of that lol..(kinda like stating the obvious myself lol) i believe that alot of the inaccuracy i have been seeing is the barrels.. it seems that running a huge bore is in fashion these days.. also, one of my teammates stated something the other day.. he sat at the chrono at the world cup and was watching the teams come off and go in.. he said "i am amzed at how inconsistant some of these guys guns are and they do not act like they care. when we were playing , most of our guns were always within two to three fps a shot.. some of these guns are 10 fps a shot .. i am suprised they can hit ****." i thought he was exaggerating but found out different..i remeber shooting over the chrono many times with my evolution and being 299, 300, 299 and the like..but, that really comes down to properly regulating the markers..being new to the scene these days, i might guess that setting the rof too high might have something to do with it.. any comments..?? by the way the link that you have set up for the half block turtle does not work..is there a site yo can direct me to.. i would appreciate it..one of my team mates has already nabbed a x mag.. he loves it..i would say it is competitive with anything out there..the x mag takes a beatin' on most of the boards but, his works mighty well..
