well, my basic reason for posting this is the fact that for 1000.00 i would expect more.. i spent quite a lot of money back in the early to mid 90's on markers.. i knew back then that they werre overpriced but, like alot of guys, you paid it if ya wanted the marker.. but, now, with the vast majority of tourney grade markers being 1200.00 and having just basic designs, it makes me wonder..when does a open bolt justify being 500.00 over another open bolt?? it is the same basic design and it functions the same.. the rate of fire is the same and both . for the money, are inconsistant and inaccurate.. like i said, i still believe that they closed bolt is the best but, would like to be able to see what they added cost is for some of these guns.. and no body said it was easy but, being as how we have a design engineer on our team he has taken these apart and looked at the materials and openly said that they have great markups..this is not rocket science..i do not begrudge anyone making a buck.. just want to know what i am spending it on..

They are worth what you are willing to pay for them..........for gods sake, does annodising improve performance? no...... but I've bought two aurora markers just for the finish. How about milling? worth anything? no, maybe shaves half a pound of the weight but it's just for the look of the thing. You can have top end performance without paying 1200.......... it just won't look as cool.
If you think they are too expensive, don't buy them. Simple as that. Markers are a luxury item, the companies aren't charities, so deal with it. Complaining will achieve nothing, not buying one might......... are you prepared not to?

rip off

Markers are over priced this side of the pond but if you want to play you have to pay and if your worried about the prices then a change of hobby is in order. But yes they are over priced. And like Jose sayes bont buy flash gear that just looks the mutts nuts buy gear that does the job and to your budget.

The trick with virtually all the current hyper electros is precise regulation of the gas flow powering both the gun and propelling the paint. Makes a bigger difference than anything else in terms of consistency of results.
Two markers you might have missed: Bonebrake Bushy, AKA Viking.

baco loco brings up the viking..

once again, money is not the issue for me.. i can afford the game easily and the cost of the marker is not the object but, what i get for the cost.. all our team is fairly well off when it comes to our hobbies.. it is not that we can not do it.. we did it before many years ago when we were not as well off financially..baco loco brings up the viking... i was fortunate enough at world cup to shoot one.. it was a great marker.. great groupings and very consistant over the chrono..it is well below the 1000.00 mark..it shot just as well as the higher priced ones and actually better.. it is not mass produced and is very tight.. what i am saying is that the viking is also a open bolt gun and is better quality than most that are more expensive and also open bolt with the same technology..in my line of work, the customer always wants to know what he is going to get for the money and why i charge what i do when others do the same thing for the same money or less..i have to justify my product all day.. it just appears to me that most of these markers are making money on the name and have nothing at all on the less expensive models..if a gun is 1000.00 dollars i expect it to shoot better and be more consistant than the 700.00 gun...dont you guys?? but, that is not the case in this game...does the angel shoot better than the viking?? no..so my rant is not about whether i can afford the game.. my bitch is not about that.. it is why some cost so frickin' much and have nothing "under the hood" to justify it and why we sometimes pay for a name and not performance.. but, that is the case in just about all industrys... :D and please, no one should take this as a slam to the industry.. if the crowd is willing to spend that kinda dough than so be it..i love this sport and was playing way back in the 80's when we had nel spots and splatmasters..it is just a observation...
