TRIPLE what you normally pay? Sweet mother of Jehosevath!
Obviously any costs that a manufacturer/distributor makes will eventually be paid by his customers. I mean, sure, most of these guys have a love for the game, but they also need their daily bread.
My feelings on this are a bit mixed. On one hand I can completely understand why someone who has invested in a series (be it Millennium or otherwise) through sponsorship will have more rights than another person at their events, but at the same time what is happening is that more or less companies are forced to sponsor. If Draxxus/Evil/RPS/Severe/whoever wants to maintain a fair share of the market, they cannot afford to not attend these events. Yet at the same time, if they wish to attend, they HAVE to become a sponsor. Not much of a choice if you ask me.
Also, this rules out the smaller suppliers (Keltic for example). They cannot afford to pay for a full series sponsorship, and so are not allowed to sell their paint at the events, and more likely than not will never grow much.
There is nothing wrong with having series sponsors. But why not give them benefits over non-sponsor traders? Make having a stand cheaper for them, give them the rights to a field, first pick of locations, their names on all official series documents, free blowjobs for all I care...
Why does this only apply to paint though? I feel that if JT were not a sponsor of the series, under the current set of rules I should not be able to purchase a pair of Spectras at the events.
And what about local distributors? Let's say that Uncle Billy Bob's Paintball Emporium pays for a tradestand at a Millennium event, because there is one in his country. Let's for argument's sake say that UBBPE sells Draxxus paintballs in his shop. He is, as far as I know, not allowed to sell Draxxus paintballs at the event, right? Why is that? I understand that Draxxus themselves are there, and want to make money, but surely denying the likes of UBBPE the potential to sell more paint than usual and make a little extra that way is in reality just maintaining the status qua of paintball and keeping it from growing.
It's all just a little too black/white for me, the rules on this could use a few more nuances....
