To get the brand name out in the public eye. There will be a time when skaters need new shoes, they wear pretty fast, and thats when Vans want to be the first name they think of. Just as the paint companies do. Thats why there are Evil, Pmi, Draxxus, Tomahawk etc... banners all around these events.

We can't use V-Comp for the same reason, but this has been known since the begiinning of the millennium series, so this is really old news to most. It is unfortunate for users of celtic or v-comp + whatever others, but there are other suitable alternatives available.

I think TJ is well aware of why Vans sponsors events, I think what he was trying to say is why doesn't Vans get exclusivity by doing so?

Honestly though, I think it's no more than normal to offer extra benefits to series sponsors. What I do find strange is that this only applies to paint. To me it stands to reason that if Dye (just using a random company name as example) does not want to sponsor the series, their gear should not be on sale at the events. Same goes for the independent retailers. Paint suppliers get the short end of the stick, while the profit margin on a box of paint is far lower than that on, for example, a jersey.

Apply this rule across the board, or do not apply it. Would Evil be allowed to sell their other gear if they chose not to become a paint sponsor?

Edit add: Dammit Teej! Beat me to it!

Thass very understanding of ya DW...don't you think you already pay enough, without being told you have to pay even more to use a paint brand that you don't have a business relationship with, you're not familiar with etc.?

Or is it, as Tha Fun Police likes to preach, that ballers take it up the backdoor so often they're used to it and put up with **** with nary a whimper...

Could it be that paintballers are sooooo damn rich, they just don't care about a few dollars here and there?

*looks in wallet*

Nope, that can't be it.

i think that they also have a rule whereby you are not allowed to use paint that has not been sold on site, or it that just the NPPL? So even if you wanted to use paint left over from training you cant. Is that right?

If they catch you with 'illegal' paint Mr Dan, then they will throw your team out of the event....so maybe advertising your intentions on a public forum was slightly foolish;)

Yes, that is right.......

So effectively manufacturers can charge what they want at events...and also, as pros and top ams get paint free, it tends to be the less well funded teams buying, who have less money, so will buy poorer quality paint...hmmm, why would a top end brand like, say, Evil bother if they ain't gonna sell anything cos they'll be undercut?

Damn, they ain't even lubing you or offering y;all a reach-around are they?
