But please bear in mind that all creations are critised, good praise and bad praise. The worse thing would be to take it personal.
I think it might be a tad hard for him to take it anything but personal when he (Niall) has put so much time and effort into it.
What amazes me is the level of expectancy and ignorance associated with some of these critical posts.
Paintball is not Formula one, it is not Premier League soccer, it is not even Snow Boarding, it is nowhere near financed the same as any of these and yet we have Famine using those type Vids / DVD's as a yardstick to compare against the Campaign Cup DVD.

Look around the paintball world people, how many similar productions have you seen in our great sport ?
Push, the Toulouse Vid, now I'm struggling to think of any more.
The point ?
Well, if you criticisers ain't worked it out for yourself, this vid, for our sport, at this time, is about as good as it gets, no argument.
You can't impose quality and production standards that we are used to with F1 or Snowboarding DVD's onto paintball.
For God's sake, this sport is still trying to find its feet and here we are, a few years after coming out of the woods, producing DVD's that make our sport not only acceptable to mainstream viewers but also exciting to watch.
It may not have what 'you' want but to run it down is insulting to Niall because you have criticised this DVD from such a narrow and selfish viewpoint and not even bothered to look at the bigger picture.
I tell you what, you guys stump up £100,000 and go and make your DVD, and then we'll see how well you do, but you know what ?
You won't, cuz u ain't got the dough and even if you did have, you wouldn't have the bottle.....but Niall made it happen !!
There's doers and there's moaners !
Nuff said !
Robbo

PS No disrespect intended to anybody, it's just that no matter what people do to try and push our sport forward, somebody somewhere always has a moan :(

Robbo,

Firstly, I never compared it to formula 1/ snowboard vids. Not quite sure where you got that from.

Secondly, Its is NOT a personal dig at Nial, It is NOT a moan. It is a criticism, my opinion as a paying consumer and my rights as one.

Thirdly, i think it is a good vid, Just really confused as to who it is marketed at. Push=eye candy, Toulouse=Swedish porn voice overs but a players film.

I really do wish nial all the best with this production, I hope it sells out in every shop. I just personally feel that at £25 it is a bit pricy to buy just to show my non player mates.

Robbo, i know whatever i say you will take the opposite/defensive side. Thats fair enough. You are a friend of Nial and a big promoter of our sport. But whether we are in our infancy as a game or whether we were as big as womans beach volleyball the fact that the marketing is a little off and our rights as consumers and to have our own opinions remain unchanged.

In all honesty I really think this forum is not the place for this discussion. I am currently discussing the DVD via email with Nial and will no longer comment on it on this forum.

One last thing, loved the "You aint got the money or balls" thing, Really shows the side of robbo we all know and love :D

No one is knocking the time effort, or finiancing that Mr Squires has put into this. In fact I think anyone bar Robbo could say they ahve done more for the P'ball scene in the uk, if not europe.

But surley the point remains, that if there is no critism, how can things improve?
This is a first for our sport, and Robbo you use the phrase ' we are a few years coming out of the woods'. Could it be said we are now coming out of the limelight?

In my experiance you never get things 100% right first time, Im' sure that if he could / should do it all over again, Mr Squires will do things differently. The point I'm trying to make is that everything we do is based on a learning curve. To single out Famine just because he doesn't like the DvD is wrong. At the same time Famine shouldn't get so hung up on his disapointment.

There's doers and there's moaners !
Some people are allowed opinions of there own.

If there was no hope of getting this to the major distributors then there would be no point in making it. For your information the feedback has been really good from them. We expect to see it in the HIgh Street Stores after classification.

I've nothing to add to the content issue as I've not seen it...

Niall you said it would be in the high street shops once it was classified. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal in the UK to sell any video/DVD commercially that is unclassified. I'm not sure how you're working this - if you're shipping from somewhere else in Europe to individuals in the UK, for example, you should be alright, but if you're distributing in the UK you may find yourself in ****.

And regarding what someone asked regarding what likely BBFC rating the DVD will get, well I've not seen it but as a general rule if it's got a little swearing in, it'll get a "12". Any sexual swearing (f*ck, c*nt) it's a "15". It all depends on context. If it's just swearing you'll be unlucky to get an "18" certificate. Though I suppose if there's a player violently screaming obscenities at the top of their lungs while making an aggresive bunker move that leaves someone with bleeding welts on their neck, an "18" isn't out of the question :D

We could only make a film out of what was actually filmed. WE wanted to present an imagery of tournament paintball warts and all. The swearing is part of this but anything more than a f**k is bleeped. The producers make 1000's of DVD's so they know what they are doing when it comes to classification etc.

This was their first time in Paintball and a lot was learned about what to do and more importantly what not to do.

We are all still learning.

We are all still learning and hopefully this was not taken too much to heart, but as Robbo said Its kinda hard not to when you have invested so much time and money. I hope that you don't think I didn't like it cause I did and I am going to be watching it all the time. It was an incredible piece of paintball history and I look forward to seeing how much more our fair sport can develop.
