Its YOUR opinion that 7 man is boring. You cannot speak for the rest of the ballers, some dislike X ball for alot of reasons and prefer 7 man.

So just because YOU prefer X ball, why should the 7man teams not be able to play infront of a crowd in the finals on the main pitch?

I watched both X ball games and 7 man games, neither to me were duller than the other.

X Ball is where the pros play? So pros dont play 7 man anymore? I would choose to watch the 7man finals in Vegas over the X ball finals at campaign anyday.

Dave

Edit: Just to add to this that I throughly enjoyed Campaign. However I just thought that it could of been better.
So I thank you for putting your time and effort into setting up Campaign Cup, I appreciate it that it must of took a hell of a lot of hard work.
Take the points people made as not "put downs" as such but friendly criticism as on what you can improve on next year.

even tho the pa does it 6 times a year on a quarter of the budget?

to be honest i think the setup was pretty damn good. i mean a 'secure' players area with all the fields like a minute walk away. Sure there was not much spectator seating but have any of you ever thought that people might not want to watch 7 man? maybe in the eyes of the spectators 7 man is boring.

how many of you stayed around to watch the games? not many i can tell you.

I have never seen xball being played until this years Campaign cup and the format still baffles me. But on a personal view I found it as boring as hell the games that I watched lasted all of a few seconds then they left the field returned a couple of minutes and did the same thing. Playing Xball is a different story and could be fun but until i have played i will reserve my judgement but watching it's as fun as watching paint dry.

I prefer to watch the 7 man games more entertaining again personal view.

Colin I was not attacking the CC just giving my views on a personal level, and if I was running a tournament I would be glad on all views given good or bad its all constructive.

I loved it.

The third tournament Pressure DVD have been to, and nothing will beat the thrill of my first, at Warren's Euro 5-man last year, but Xball at CC was a revelation. Really. I think that despite what some people say, this is the format to take the sport to the next level...

It was just a really great advert for the game, although I'd second what a previous poster wrote about the lack of bins - by the time we got to sunday I was having to pick up rubbish myself in order to make sure our shots of RL training looked as good as they should.

From Pressure's point of view the friendliness and amenability of players to spend time with us on what were sometimes some mad set-ups was really appreciated - new bezzie mates Ignition and NeXus stand out in particular alongside existing compadres Tigers and Ducks. And Sanchez and Xalo from the Foreign Legion. And Colin. And everyone else who gave us their time.

NBR, I'm assured the DVD will be out by Christmas!

The essential difference between 7 man and X Ball is, IMVHO, crowd participation.

7 man games are played in virtal silence. If the crowd was allowed to get involved then they might feel more attached to the action. 7 man isn't boring but as a package compared to X Ball it can seem boring.

If you look at it another way - in the space of an hour you could have 15 7 man games played on one field. In that same hour you could have 15 points played out on an X ball field. The difference is you have seen 30 teams of varying standard and not really found a team you could support past the fleeting time they played, but with X ball you watch 2 teams and probably pick a favourite, for what ever reason, and will continue to support them for the duration of the competion. For the non playing paintball public this is what they want - attachment. Its like supporting English clubs in European football or home nations in a World Cup. If your a neutral you will support the thing you can most associate with. The NFL doesnt need to have a team from every state or city because the ones they have cover so much of the population, its all encompassing.

This thread has descended into a 7 man vs X Ball debate (inc. this post  ) instead of what do you think of Campaign (I've said my bit about that). The criticism's have been listened too and I know they will be addressed and the praise accepted. I think players are going to have to make a choice soon - play one or other formats but which ever one you choose, don't feel bitter that the other format may get better treatment or coverage than you - strive to be the best at what you do and get the recognition you deserve.

Peace! :)

Well, I enjoyed the event, everything was easy to access (except for carrying all our gear and paint 250 yards to the xball fields), but it seems that anyone playing xball can't have an opinion because everything was biased towards us.

I spent time walking round watching the 7 man games as well, and granted, SOME of the games were exciting, but the vast majority were dam BORING. Everything seemed extremely well set up for you guys with everything you needed close at hand. most of you wouldnt have had to walk more than 50 yards to get to any one of the fields you were playing on, air was central to everyone. trade stands set up right next to you.

I think that everybodies problem is simply that the xball Had grand stands and bigger crowds.

XBALL rocks, don't knock it till you've tried it.

Jono;)

"To Dare Is To Do !?!"
After reading all these threads slagging off the organisation and everything else you could think of about campaign 2004 i felt i had to put what i thought into writing

Yes i agree there was some minor issuses with toilets and food etc but when have you ever gone anywere and not come back moaning about something little like that!

Registring the team and getting player ID's was quick easy and done with no problems at all

Marshalling was good and very strict but consistant for all teams(portsmouth uni pulled 3 times for 1-4-1's was not a happy bunny at the time)

Trade village was exerlant loads of choise and batering to be had, there is alos nothing like having the new pieces of equipment that you are going to buy in your hand

This was my first MS event, after playing a season at the dartfords 7's, i thought the whole expreince was amazing! i don't agree that 7 man is boring, If a player is not able to sit and watch the game he choices to play and but alot of time and money into then there is something wrong there!

The xball was class, watching the russion legion was a sight to behold, and yes the atmosphere was great, but that was the only xball i saw all weekend.

Field walking was great able to get onto the fields intill dark and again early morning, air was on early and was perfect as normal, the chrono tent was good worked all weekend with out any problems apart from it getting a wind battering saturday!

My only BIG problem in the whole weekend was in at least two or three games the teams were brought onto the field and sent to the start gates then told that we have ten minutes to wait! this to me is crazy! why bring the teams out onto the field if the marshalls arn't ready for them! we lost a man due to re chrono and a gun running hot after sitting in the sun for ten mniutes! this was the only thing i wouldn't ecpect to see at a MS event! and hope this woun't be happening in 2005!

Other than the little rant at the end there i was very impressed with the whole event!

WELL DONE ALL INVOVLED IN MAKING IT A GREAT WEEKEND!

i would also like to say sorry to the fallan angels, due to me lighting them all up from the snake, please accept my appologies!

Thanks for listening

Si :)
