Sadly that's also what i think is likely to happen if the federations are not independant of business or accountable to the players. We seem to have heard that Keely will be the president? What is her role in the PSP? Does she work for them? Will she have latitude to make desicions that are in the best interest of paintball but may not be in the best interests of the PSP?

Also on a related note, what is the relationship between the American Paintball Players Association (Or whatever it is called) and the PSP. Are they independant, or do the PSP just support them?

She works for the PSP.

Good question nobody will know the answer to until such a decision gets made.

APPA is independent of the PSP but the PSP is the largest user of the service to date. The APPA system works well and is open to inspection anytime by anybody.

It doesn't really matter what affiliations the first president has.... because no elections will have been held yet, so I am quite content with the key positions being filled by people who believe in the concept, can get it up and running and drive it towards the first elections.

If Keely is a good President (IF she is in fact filling that position), she'll be reelected - if not, she'll be out on her (granted - quite attractive) ass ;) - so let's not get ahread of ourselves here.

Gyro - I want to know more about those "ointment responsibilities" - maybe there is a place for me in this organisation :D

Speaking of getting ahead of ourselves

Nick, I'm not sure why you imagine there will be elections. The presently available info only allows for one election--the Pres. of the Exec. Committee (from among the appointed members of the Committee). Nor is it anywhere suggested any of the rest of processes involve election in any sense that reflect some democratic concept.
Not saying it won't happen. Just saying to assume it might be a large assumption.

(Am done being pessimistic. So likely won't post much more to this thread.:D )

But Paul

The members of the board come from the regional federations - and the members of those from the national federations - at least that's how I read it?

As such, they will get elected - i.e. the president get elected by the regional federations..... NOT by the whole membership - that's not what I meant.

What I mean is, with the US regional federations having 6 seats, the European 6 seats, and the other three 2 each.... it is not a given who will be President after the first term.... as in any other international sports organisation (I suppose), the delegates will vote on the presidency?

In other words... National federations send a delegate to the regional federation, where the delegates vote on their own board. - That board then sends delegates to the UPBF, where they vote on the UPBF presidency.

Not what it says Nick. It states the Confeds will appoint their Exec. Committee reps who will elect a President. There is no given mechanism for how the Confeds are populated. Nor are the appointed delegates per se--they are the working members of the Exec. Committee which retains the active power of the UPBL.
Again, I'm not saying it's bad. I am saying there's lots that isn't explained and to assume how things will work is, I think, if not a mistake, certainly premature.
