Steve, I find it odd that you take such a good care of many somewhat useless rules but don't care about a major safety concern that the high pressure paintball tanks are. Do I need to remind that two people have lost their lives within a year in accicents where a paintball cylinder has failed it's proper operation. I don't think anybody died not tucking their jerseys in all the way :D

I know DOT tanks within date are not a safety concern compared to hse or pi tanks but your attitude seems like you don't give a ratts ass on what tanks the players have. Id let the guys atr H-PAC make the calls since they are the ones providing the fills.

Egi,

I don't what I've done to you to cause you to ride my ass so much these days.;) :p

You know damned well that my priority number one is safetly and you've seen evidence of it even in NXL rules. I can say that I have almost single-handedly gotten rules into Millennium about use of barrel blocking devices. I took a lot of grief during Nations Cup last year because I was hard and consistent about penalizing ANY PLAYER for not using them in the pit area.

As you point out, the thrust of this discussion is that the DOT vs Pi is almost, if not totally, political. In fact DOT tanks have been tested to a higher pressure compared to Pi, so I think they're safer.

Concerning the loss of live in America, I'm the one that posted that here first.

Also, it's impossible to interpret anything I've said under my name or under Wadidiz that could possible imply that I don't care what tanks players use. To quote Robbo, show me we're I've written such a thing. In fact, I tend to push for promoters to set up systems to ensure that ALL tanks used are within their certification period.

I don't MAKE CALLS that H-PAC should be making. All I have done on this thread is to state some opinions about the bureaucratic and political bull****, thank-you-very-much.

And I guess you're take is, if some people get by with murder we can relax about exceeding speed limits on the highway. (I've heard that argument before!)

If you think some rules are useless, tough titty! Get over it or work to get them changed, like I try to do.

Meanwhile, I'll continue to state my opinion about lame-ass bull-**** red tape and strive for simple, straightforward interpretation of the rules handed to my judges and me.

Heheh, I'll admit you did a good job with barrel socks last year (NXL could use you for that, got shot again in the pits in LA...) and yes the questions about the tanks is political (I use a dot tank...)

Seriously, perhaps the only thing I really am a critical about is that you _are_ an official for the millennium series which put's you in a position that whatever you say / inform here is taken seriously.

I know you keep telling that the opinions are only yours etc, but if you want to act as a impartial guy overseeing things you really cannot post your "own" views. I also don't like you posting a list of your sponsors while you are telling to not buy stuff from other manufacturers...

Just my 2 cents, I am not saying you are doing a bad job, just trying to get you think about the issues and your position.

See you in Germany!

I hate to lose my freedom of speech!:)

What I have tried to do is post more "official" things under my name with the Millennium logo and more personal opinion things under Wadidiz.

Please don't make me give up one of my favorite side-hobbies.:(

BTW, I don't tell people under any name to not by stuff from another manufacturer. Under my "Millennium" name I just suggest that people need to use clothing and equipment that are allowed by the rules. And I know that the company in question here (yours) has a complete line of products that DO comply with all the rules.

See you in Germany,

Steve

PS. People that know me know that I'll cut whichever way is necessary when necessary, including "my" sponsors.

i'm not a pessimistic person in general
but
i truely think this Bottle issue has another side to the story

All this safety reasoning (DOT being tested more thorough compared to PI) is nice and all
but if all hell breaks lose and something terrible does happen
(whoever upthere forbid)
there is also a insurance issue
i wonder what the insurance companies will say/hide behind when the botlte in question is a not "legal" DOT one ??

Or does the Millenium Bottle Pressrelease cover this also
maybe meaning H Pac is reponsible if a by them filled tank causes a big bang ??

just wondering

If the insurance covers negligence then it's likely they would have to pay out. To not pay out the insurance company has to prove that the claiment has broken their agreement, unless they have stated specifically as part of the agreement what type of tanks will be used then the organisers would most likely succeed in making the insurance firm pay out, especially as the filling is sub-contracted to h-pac, certainly in the UK anyway.

It would also be hard for a player to sue h-pac for anything, contractually the agreement to fill the bottle is between the event organiser and h-pac, this leaves the hurt player out in the cold legally. As for sueing under Tort law (wrongs) for damages/negligence, well the player has knowingly presented an illegal tank for filling....who knows where that could end up:rolleyes:

I would say the player could come off worst, but nothing is certain as judges have been known to 'bend' the meaning of things to make sure the guilty party gets screwed. It's a situation nobody wants to be in, particularly in the UK!

The important issue is safety, not who is liable should the sh!t hit the fan. I think the MS do a pretty good job with safety, is there truly a realistic safety risk if all bottles are fibre wrap, in sound condition and in date?..........
