It will be interesting to see what happens, when a Luxfer pricipal happens to notice H-PAC is filling DOT cylinders at the event ???

To see h-pac fill a dot bottle, is suprising. As far as i know it's illegal everywhere except america. I'll give them a ring to see their view.

Well, i've spoken to h-pac, and really had no definate answer regarding dot fills, sorry to be vague guys but that's it.

I think that dot bottles as long as they're in date may well get filled.

I think law enforcement officials have much more important things to do than go around inspecting and fining peeps for victimless crimes. That's what it would be as long as H-PAC are vígilant in filling tanks that are within their certification period and appear to be undamaged.

At Bitburg they will not be illegal as the tourney will be held on US ground.(airbase)

As long as there is money to be won, I wouldn't worry too much. Anyway, it is the airfare costs that scare everyone.

And I wouldn't think you would have to worry about not getting Euro-bottles filled in America.

I don't see many teams buying two sets of tanks. Whadda you think?
Most of them didn't buy the first set. ;)

You say "illegal cylinders" like they are any different from "legal" ones... :p

It don't make a rat's ass of a difference what I condone in the grand (or even small, for that matter) scheme of things.

Illegal, schmillegal, they are probably the same frikkin' tanks. When it comes to these kind of matters I tend to trust DOT at least as much as any European standard. This is a politcial technicality, not a safety issue.

So, yes, I want to see this problem resolved in some kind of reasonable way.

But until then I don't want to be kept from playing the sport myself. I can't afford to buy another tank and I'm sure there are others in the same boat.

Again, let's focus on the real safety issues: keeping barrel socks on at the right times, tanks within certification period-not damaged, keeping velocities under the limit, etc.

Just my opinion. Nothing official.

But won't that make all the European cylinder illegal then???

By USA LAW, of course???

We don't have laws silly.
In the US (Bitburg in this case) they allow/recognise the HSE/PI for use on american soil it is just we europeans that don't allow the same thing in return. H-Pac have said in the past that they are liable for prosecution if they were to fill a DOT bottle. The idea of dual testing is fine until the bottle is retested as the test for one type of letters excedes the test figures for the other tests and visa versa.
A certain distributer was making very loud noises to stop the dual label on bottles last year, but then this was quite obviously the fact that they had only Pi bottles for sale and wanted more sales, they also were making noises about getting regulations passed to only allow regulators with an on/off...funny how they sell such an item too.
The MS as a whole regardless of politics do need to get this decided once and for all as any accidents will be looked at very seriously by which ever countrys authorities the accident happens in, I don't mean just a bottle failure I mean that if a fill nipple/hose line fails and the inspection shows a DOT tank attached then guess where the blame will be put?

would the easy was around this not be to have the old skool long tanks with them that you attach a fill rig onto and have a player fill his own bottle with his own rig? Then H-pac are not filling the bottles. the player is...

maybe just my fcuked up view on the matter
