- Bottles: At Maxs European Masters, H-PAC will service the air. We have spoken to them about the different rules that are spreading about which bottles are legal. These are the rules (since July 2003):

1. According to the law in Europe and Great Britain, the following bottles are allowed for commercial use:

§ HSE standard bottles

§ British standard bottles

§ CE (European) Standard bottles

2. Bottles with only the (US) DOT marking are not
acceptable for commercial use in Europe or Great Britain.
They cannot be approved for any gas application in
Europe.

3. We advise everyone who has a DOT marked bottle, to
check if this bottle also has a HSE mark on it. Filling
bottles carrying only the DOT stamp is illegal.

4. The responsibility for usage of the DOT-only bottles
lies with the players. Individuals can be fined if their
bottle is not legal. The Millennium Series will not accept
this responsibility. If you get fined, you are responsibly;
you have to pay the cost.

5. New are the “Pi” bottles, we advise you to switch to
this new standard, in order to follow the new
developments in rules and regulations in the EU. In july
2003 Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive
became law and from that point on all new cylinders
had to comply with the new directive and be certified
accordingly with the Pi mark ().

However, H-PAC is allowed to fill any bottle, as long as it is
still within it’s validation period. Please switch to Pi as soon
as you can.

So if i am reading it correctly, you can use DOT only bottles, H-PAC will fill them, but it's your own responsibilty if you get fined?

Where does it say you can fill dot only bottles, it only says h-pac will fill bottles as long as they're within their validation period. DOT only bottles will NOT be in any validation period, as they're not legal in this or any european country.

As a person you are entitled to use a dot only bottle, but you cannot get it filled in europe, and will not be able to get it tested either.

I'm not ragging on you and I see your points, but I don't think it's a matter of conscience. It's politics. I don't know all the details that you're probly a privy to but I suspect there's not 2p difference between a DOT bottle and a Pi bottle, just a matter of jumping through hoops.
