You're right,you dont know much about Roman/British history. The wall was built to try and stop Scottish raiding parties getting into England and taking what they wanted.
Anyway,back to topic.........

The best team from Britain will almost certainly never be able to compete with the best team from the states. It's a simple numbers game. Even a combined team of the best players in Britain would have a tough time of it. Team of some of the best players from Europe would have a shot. That's what you have to do to get the numbers game to be fair.

Maybe you guys could get Rocky Knuth in here and preach about how much easier it is to have a group of players from all the same area (as he's done with the Dogs). Or better yet, I'm really curious if the core of Dynasty is spread out a farther distance than EVERY SINGLE ENGLISH TEAM!

Holy crap you guys are killin' me. I've been to England a few times, and there's quite a few people. More than enough I'd figure to build a pretty okay team. Are there enough kids in Southern California to build a good team? One better: you think you could build a damn fine team out of Chicago-land kids? The Predators happened once it could happen again, why the hell can''t anyone else see that? Why can't the Brit boys be happy that they have 3(!) pro teams in 'The 18' of the NPPL? As I said earlier, with the right management you guys can build a good team. Everyone over there apparently wants to build an English Dynasty, WELL GUESS WHAT- THERE'S ONLY ONE DYNASTY AND WE HAVE 'EM! Be patient, quit being fair-weather fans, and support the efforts of your current champions. Your dreams of some superstar team seem pretty damn silly. It's one thing to drive 5 hours for a weekend practice, but to go through international customs every time you have a team meeting is insane. Nexus has just gone through a major overhaul and had a respectable finish in Denver considering the major rebuilding they're going through. What more can you ask? Have patience and let the Tigers, Nexus, Shockwave, or the Pred's, do it the right way. For any of you still looking to an All-Star team as the answer, think hard on this: do you really think it would work?

FFB, I'm afraid we cannot get up there (top 5 spot) as things stand at the moment. When the Preds did their stuff, the whole Paintball landscape was different with the disparity in numbers playing either side of the Atlantic being significantly less than it is now.
The number of teams then was so much less, the required skill levels, the professionalism required, the training, the athleticism, the speed of the game, oh my, the list goes on.

Now, I'm afraid it's all about the numbers game as Chicago suggests, it's all about resource packages and no amount of flag waving is gonna change that one iota.

We just have not got enough top class players in this country to create an environment whereby any cherry picking endeavour would produce a world top 5 team.
I'm not putting us down before some idiot jumps all over me telling me I am being unpatriotic, I am telling it like it is.

And this has to go back to some degree to the site owners who will not promote that secondary tier of our sport, but that's another problem.

There is a way around this and it involves training more and training better but to do this, we have to create a real pro team where the majority of players are trained for most of the week.
They have to be disciplined, committed and trained correctly and only in this way can we negate the numbers disparity.
But unless the UK can come up with an equivalent Sergey Leontiev, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for the industry to pump that sort of money into a UK team unless it is a UK company...and therein lies the problem.

That's because were now at a stage where our teams are semi pro and many american teams are becoming 'real' pro. Like has been said, only serious finance;full time players, as the russkies have shown, have any hope.
The finance will not come from sponsors in the UK as it is cheaper (certainly against the dollar) to sponsor an already highly skilled, experienced, active american team than it is to sponsor teams over here. In the states they can play more for less, train more for less-sponsors get more for less. It does not make much sense to give a uk team any similar backing, apart from to target the uk demographic...which is a fraction of the US market.
Nexus is a slight exception as they can guarantee coverage, but even their backing aint enough now. Things are gonna get even tougher when teams like Aftershock or whoever are promoted into the NPPL pro div.

Robbo I wondered for a long time when the next time I would speak to you would be and I knew it would end up on this forum.
If you read what I wrote I wasn't talking about the MS I was talking about the NPPL. In planet zog we have the internet mate so I know were your team stands along with the other teams I mentioned. I was simply saying that they beat us at Xball twice (sorry) and in 7 man this year in the NPPL they are doing a bit better so all I'm saying sensai is that they obviously are doing something right or am I not listening??

Bobby B just cause some homeslice called five fingers something said I was ''heaping **** all over my 3 teams'' (nice expression by the way must be an American thing) doesn't mean thats what I was doing. I love Nexus for the guys that play on the team I wasn't having a dig. I wasn't having a dig at any of the teams mentioned I'm just putting forward an idea.

I honestly believe in the UK we have the talent and the brains to put this ''allstar'' team together and why not?? Come on boys fcuk sake we have guys across the pond coming on and telling us that we have to be patient and eventually we'll get somewhere. How long is that gonna go on for, I don't know about you but I think its embarrising that we can't go over there and win an NPPL event with the talent we have in this country.
Fair doo's we dont have the pool of players they do thats only a small problem!!
But sh!t man no one and I mean NO-ONE boys can say that we can't get a squad of 12-15 players that can have the balls, skills, ambition and hunger to go over there and shoot Dynasty, XSV whoever in the face in the finals at Huntington beach right on their home turf in front of their mums, dads, birds, bits on the side and all those people who don't want to see anyone but a US team lift the 1st place trophy. Anyone who thinks we can't do that either needs laid or a tour of our tournament circuit to see the streetball first hand.

Thing is though we're stuck in this attitude we're all sitting around waiting for some UK version of Sergey to come and save us. Why can't we help ourselfs???
Right so we havn't go the cash or resources at the moment to do it but are we just gonna sit around and wait for this mistery hommie with loads of cash cars and blondes to come and save us or does anyone else think it would be a good idea to try and help ourselfs cause it aint happening.
At the moment we cant train everyday or even 4 a week like some US pro teams I can see how thats a big factor but rather than just having all these things in our way surely we have the brains and the support in this country to find ways AROUND our problems.

I know there is so much stopping this from happening but why can't the people who could make this happen JUST sit down and just talk about it?? Everyone knows who these people could possible be and for what reasons. Anyone on the UK scene who has either a sh!t hot squad or some sort of responsibilty e.g work for a ballin company or own one. Think about it what if this isn't just a stupid idea if it paid off and it worked UK paintball would never be draggin its ass behind the yanks, our Am ranks would pay off also EVERYONE would benifit in some way think about it.

What if you could get a squad of players totally all out ballers that when people in the UK found out who the roster was they (and sponsors) would get behind this team cause its a straight mowing, pimped out balling outfit, and everyone knows it cause every player is a stand out player. No players that make up numbers just a squad of guys that you wouldn't want to go 1on1 with in a game.

I just want to see us win something thats all, I'm not having a dig at anyone or team, I'm just fed up of this half assed attitude that we can't beat them because we're not good enough... bollocks

We are good enough we just have to do it the hard way, and to be honest I think a UK Allstar team would be a good start, surely you lot can stop for one second and just think about how special this team would be if it happened.
A mean come on you Old Skool lot used to rule this paintball sh!t worldwide hands down......... The way we're going just now for the next few years we'll just make up the numbers, unless I'm being totally out of order here and someone can come on and tell me that one of our 3 teams can win an NPPL series in the next few years. I'm just being realistic and want to see UK paintball were it should be above the Americans cause they SUCK!!!

I think if possible we should pull one of the pro teams from the NPPL next year and play the Allstar team in that spot and mix the rest of the best in the other 2 avail spots
