Flamed corpses hanging from burned out tanks........ never see any of those shots? or was tat just in the UK....... I was watching fox mind you..........
And you don't suppose they wouldn't want the world to see what a monster Saddam was? Especially since so many in the region as well as in Europe tried to defended his dictatorship.Originally posted by JoseDominguez
but those fly blown corpses are peoples relatives.
Many news services that I watched showed al-Jazeera footage to show their slanted view. This served the purpose of introducing Americans, at least, to the state sponsored anti-American campaign being perpatrated in the Arab world.Originally posted by JoseDominguez
2) We show footage rom Al Jazerra to show how evil they are.
Do two wrongs make a right?
Ok, so their footage is slanted and against international law....... so why do we show so much of it?Originally posted by Mark790.06

Our governments allowed the pictures to be shown

Never said that, but you can't complain about them doing it and expect to get away with it yourself....... but "mass grave found" doesn't have the same impact as a rotting baby does it? sensationalism.

As long as no operational information was divulged, our news media can air whatever they wanted. That whole first amendment-thing in our constitution. If American news outlets wanted to air tasteless images, that is their prerogative. They'll of course be subject to public opinion, and the squeamish with itchy remote control fingers. Had there been another Dun Li, and the news media wanted to expose the carnage caused by coalition troops, but there was a government authority tasked with censoring images of dead people, that authority could easily be abused.Originally posted by JoseDominguez

No you never said that, but you seemed to imply that the indignity of showing Saddams' victims might offend their relatives. I simply said that with the pro-Saddam/anti-American reporting that propagated regional and European news coverage, the victims families want the fates of their loved ones to be told at the expense of a little indignity.Originally posted by JoseDominguez

Honestly I didn't see a whole lot of US media showing our POW's being interrogated or giving statements, just the intial reports soon after they occured, and I personally don't believe they translated enough of the al-Jezeera coverage.Originally posted by JoseDominguez
