Bad for the sport?

rancid

Mother, is that you?
Mark, so you admit to being a GUN RUNNER? What kind of ambassador are you?

Of course I think that image is good for the sport, that's why we cram the pages of pgi each month with pics and articles about REAL paintball.

What's this airsoft business? I like the sound of that... what about a section in the mag?

Hey at least I keep the two jobs seperate, but I was a delivery driver who happened to deliver all kinds of stuff some even to the PGI offices.....want me to tell you what PGI offices get delivered?

Now I see that Robbo has chastised you you seem to have changed your direction towards sarcasm. Now honestly answer the post ........ a lookalike soldier, with a lookalike M16 is good for paintball?

Airsoft was part of the trade section at the first couple of Skyball's and after all the flak it got from the press (PGI as well) it is no longer part of the tournament....it has its place but not at a paintball tournament.

4-0
That was like 10 years ago, the game has moved on since then and evolved into a sport where only the best could survive, hence people like Duffy, Moore and Rancid had to leave unceremoniously..........
And as for 4-0 (once again), my heart bleeds all the way back from White Hart Lane, WE WUZ ROBBED !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring back Jimmy Greaves, all is forgiven :)

Compared to alot of paintball players Im still a newbie. I've been playing for nearly 6 years and I personally have seen this sport progress along way. Alot of people have put sweat, blood and tears into this sport to move more towards main-stream sports and away from the percieved image of us all running around like Marine wanna be's. If for what ever reason you want to act like a soldier i suggest moving towards airsoft.

This is basically running around a load of woods ( getting lost ) and shooting each other with plastic bb's.

If you must have a marker that looks like a firearm do airsoft as it will be cheaper to get buy a bb gun that looks like an M-4 than to buy a paintball marker and convert \ customise it to look like it.

P.S The many people who have spent so much time changing this sport for the better could get quite upset if the sport jumped back ten years in terms of progression.

Thx for listening to me rant on. See ya round

always remember 2% tourney will sell to the public, not cammo clad rambo buttf###ers........

sorry rec ball, but if this sport is gonna progress to a spectator level, i aint seeing a crowd stuffed into the woods to watch pball if you catch ma drift.

ok the rambo buttf###ers is harsh....sorry rancid, before you go off on one at me......again!

OK I didn't start this thread so it could turn into a tourny vers rec fight. We all have are part in this sport.

Not all tourny palyers act in the best interest of the sport blatant cheating and those "special" modifications to guns will not help us get the recognition that we disire, and neather will the rambo wantabees that some, not all, but some rec players are.

For our sport to be taken seriously we need to not only change the minds of the public, but some of our own as well.

And by the way over half of my 12 years of paintball have been played in the woods. YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHOSE JUST ONE!!

one of the reasons we have threads like this is for the most part we are adults and can admit when we are out of order so much respect for that this also means we don't resort to name calling and bull sh1t like that rec ball or tourney ball many of us play both and enjoy both (I use an eclipse Impulse vision for tourney's and a cocker or a pump or a pt extreme pistol for rec) my personel opinion is paint ball MARKERS should not be outfitted like real guns. In the previous thread Rancid said he was not so stupid as to carry a modified marker openly in the street, this is good and that marines use 'em for training, train with 'em by all means but be aware that the reception a marker like that will get at a Pball site will not be good (if it was mine you would probably get turned around from the site) just my opinion and noone elses as was said weekend warrior join the national guard or do airsoft wanna play paintball then do it with common sense as your guide.... (go on a bit don't I:D )

Seriously, if u wanna run around in camo with an m-16 look alike, play airsoft. I'm 16 and I ref at my local field, i have been playing for about 2 and a half years, and i would say that the bad image paintball gets is largely due to fields themselves. Alot of places could care less about the sport and make no attempt to show paintball as a valid sport. I mean do you bowie-knife-wielding paintball soldier wannabes realize how much crap me and my friends get in high school for trying to explain to our teachers and other kids what tourney paintball is. That paintball is not a wargame baffles their mind, and they don't believe it. Cause all they ever see is camo wearing rednecks with nitro tanks strapped to their backs.

But Walker

ESPN shows kids skating on the half-pipe - kids go 'cool' and start skating, but on the street.

ESPN shows pball on Sup'Air - kids go 'cool' and start balling on their local site. They love it, and then they find out how damn expensive tourney is and they stick to playing 6 times a year, matbe buying a Spyder and a mask along tha way. They remain rec players for life. And that is and always will be tha majority.

Tourney can act as a great advert for pball and draw people in, but most of em go to rec in the same way that BMX racing attracts kids but 0.1% of em ever race, they buy bikes an' make jumps in the woods.

No-one's knocking tourney, but don't knock rec cos it is the lifeblood of pball.
